We took this trip to celebrate my husband's birthday. The inn was very nice and the employees were quite professional and courteous. My husband played golf at Old Edwards Club and loved it. I would highly recommend Old Edwards Inn as the premier place to stay in Highlands, North Carolina.

We are lucky enough to say that Old Edwards Inn was the destination for our wedding in 2010. We return often to celebrate an anniversary, or just to eat at Madison's or visit the spa. We stay in Highlands for several weeks each year. So if you've never been or are returning and want luxury accommodations, Old Edwards is 5-Star from the moment you walk in and are greeted with a glass of champagne. They address you by Mr./Mrs last name. Their refreshment stations by the hotel rooms offer complimentary coffee, water, drinks, and Dove ice cream sandwiches! The croquet court, pool and hot tub are surrounded by beautiful mountain landscape. The inside bar is lively at happy hour and cozy at night with fireplaces lit. I don't think there's a bad room in this place, just depends what size you want. All the rooms we have stayed in are incredible and have unique decor from room to room with all the same wonderful amenities - super comfortable beds and linens, loads of pillows, bathrooms paved in marble with heated floors, fireplaces to keep you warm, decor is rustic mountain chic. If you love all the linens, furnishings and accessories in the room, you can buy them in their Acorns shop! Oakleaf is also across the street, it's their florist who sells the floral and garden decor you see around the resort, as well as the amazing smelling oil diffusers. You could spend an entire day in the spa if you'd like. The showers in the spa have like 15 sprayers! Just stand in the middle and let 'em go! It's tough to get out of there. Facials and massages have been great. Madison's is fantastic for lunch or dinner. Lunch you can dress casual, but dinner is typically a jacket. Also check out Paoletti's and Lakeside for dinners (jackets suggested, reservations a must), and Wild Thyme and Inn on Main St. for lunches. If you want something more casual, check out the Mountain Fresh buffett (don't miss the pimiento cheese with bacon and chix salad!) and of course their fantastic wines, pizzas, and prepared foods. Go to Sunset rock for an afternoon sunset with wine and snacks. The waterfalls towards Franklin, Glen Falls, and Whiteside are nice brief hikes. Note that Old Edwards has started managing many of the properties around Highlands, including 200 Main which has many of the same luxury amenities, service, account connected to the main inn if you eat/drink up there, but at a lower room rate. Also if you're considering OEI for your wedding, go visit! They have a separate beautiful property called The Farm with a permanent covered open air garden for the ceremony and a rustic barn for the reception. It's a well oiled machine, and they know how to do 5-star weddings without a hitch. The chef, florist, and pastry chef are all extremely talented and will not disappoint!

Very professional yet personal approach. Old Edwards Inn and Spa has been one of the most welcoming and friendly places that I have stayed. The atmosphere is very low key, quiet, and relaxing. The food was very delicious yet not over the top expensive. I hope to get to stay there again some day soon.

A group of us had brunch at the Old Edwards Inn after a Saturday night wedding.. The service was impeccable, the staff engaging w/o being intrusive.. The menu offerings met all diners' wishes.. I would highly recommend a visit
