Having visited The Bay Horse Inn, Goldsborough last year, as a treat for my mum, which was excellent. I decided to book a weekend break for mum, who was celebrating her Birhday. Having booked a room each , I also booked a room for my sister and her husband. We were delighted to meet June (The Landlady) and her warm and friendly staff.

The setting in a traditional English Inn is a sight to behold and the food freshly prepared
by an excellent chef, will keep you going back time after time. The food combined with traditional ales, wines and spirits, compliments each other wonderfully.

The polite, professional and hard working staff, made for a relaxing break with all the stress drifting away. After an excellent meal you can relax in the wonderful gardens and just let world drift by.

I will be booking another visit very soon, treat yourself to traditional English hospitality, you won't be disappointed.

Regards,

Bill M

When we managed to get in through a resisting door that needs attention we found a dark dingy unwelcoming interior with no diners in sight which we found surprising for a Sunday afternoon. Bar staff seemed very slow at serving a couple of drinks. Its not at all what we expected from the outside which is actually quite attractive. I am surprised the place remains open and can only presume it has a much better evening trade. Its certainly the strangest website I have ever seen with links for menus etc which provide no actual detail of what is on offer. Not a place that I can recommend I am afraid

Sorry you were not happy with your visit to us last Sunday.
The door you used is quite easy to open if you open it with the handle normally not just pressed down halfway.
I do not know what time you visited, but we had diners at tables overlooking the garden ( prebooked as they wanted to be in the restaurant to eat , not in the Bar)
The 2 front Bars would have a lack of customers, as everyone was sitting in the garden.
Overall the flow of customers was very good due to the open gardens and scarecrows.
Quite a few times we did not have enough seats for everyone.
Regarding the comments about the "slow" bar staff,it was a "first"day for one of them, and everyone has to learn!

Our room was very clean, comfy bed, had all the facilities we needed and did a very good breakfast. The host was welcoming, and asked each morning if we needed anything and asked for feedback on our departure. Ample parking and lovely gardens to sit and enjoy a drink in the summer months.

We booked the Bay Horse Inn for our granddaughter's baptism reception. We also booked all 5 of the B&B rooms in the annexe for guests and family for 2 nights. We were thoroughly impressed with all aspects of our booking - June, the landlady, and her team could not have done more to make our stay and event go superbly! What a terrific venue this is - the most beautiful gardens and an atmospheric traditional Yorkshire Inn (such a welcome change from all the generic chain pubs). We were so lucky the sun shone and we could utilise the outside areas to their full potential. Rooms in the B&B annexe (although fairly simple) were spotless, comfortable and very peaceful. We appreciated the tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water provided and showers were good. Breakfast cooked to order each morning was excellent - again staff lovely. We were especially impressed with the efforts made to accommodate two of our guests with gluten free needs. Exceptional! We were fortunate to be around for the 'Fish and Chip Supper' on Friday night. Wow some of the best fish and chips we have ever had AND a gluten free option was offered! The buffet spread provided for the reception was lovely, extensive and good value for money. June and her team were also most helpful in arranging food for those of us staying at the venue in the evening. Nothing was too much trouble.

A massive thank you to June and all her staff for being, well, simply wonderful! We all had a marvellous time. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Bay Horse Inn and its services be it for an event, accommodation or just for some tasty traditional 'pub grub'!

We stayed at the Bay Horse Inn after a wedding at Goldsborough Hall and were very disappointed. Our room was small with a mattress that had seen better days, a sticky bedside table and dust. The cups were dirty and only 1 bottle of water was provided. The bathroom had no bath and mould in the shower. There was no wifi.
We were given no choice about breakfast time, and were placed on a big table with everyone from the wedding party (most of whom we didn't know). The breakfast itself was also disappointing. The 'full' English was not filling enough for my husband with only 1 sausage, no beans and no choice of how eggs were cooked. The only continental options were cereal and toast- no fruit or pastries. The butter had a hair in it. For £85 a night we expected much more.
