Very good and tasty food. A must try when in the Banner Elk. The restaurant has an affiliated bar (Barra) and upscale farm to kitchen restaurant (The Chef's Table) that are very much worth visiting as well.

There are 3 restaurants in this complex. One is Sorrento's Italian, the other is Barra Sushi and the thrid is the Chef's table which is upstairs from the two I just mentioned.
To complicate matters you can go to Barra and order italian food from Sorrento's but cannot go to the Chef's table and order Italian food. However, the Chef's table has sushi on the menu. We were very confused to say the least. All that being said our dinner was mediocre. No bread service available even though you can get bread at Sorrentos. The room is not very inviting. Food was OK, service not so good. We had gone up to this room a couple of years ago and I think it was some sort of nightclub. You can see remnants of that with a disco ball. I don't think we will be back, just didn't like the feel of the place. My average rating is generous.

Now called Chef's Table at Sorrento's (upstairs). A true gem not known about by many in area, but food is definitely excellent, and Wednesday night jazz is not to be missed!! Only a $5.00 per person cover charge, which is steal considering exceptionally high quality of musicians playing there. Not cheap but truly delightful upscale dining experience!!

Plastic plates, a menu that's all over the place. Sloppy presentation, fine dining prices with food straight off the back of a Sysco/Us foods truck. This IS not a farm to table restaurant ,nor is it even remotely close to fine dining. The cook is a shoemaker who should be locked up for sexual harassment. Just all around a creepy vibe with average food.

The Sushi Club is now called Chef's Kitchen. It is upstairs in the cluster of bars and dining rooms on Azalea Street. The restaurant still lists sushi on the menu although the sushi here is not prepared by a high-hatted asian, the "sushi" on the menu is a is a limited choice or "rolls" of some kind, probably not prepared by hand in the kitchen. I ate the spicy one and it was ok.Other than that, the 4 oz beef filet was delicious and prepared-to-order with side of whipped potatoes and sauteed spinach at a moderate price. The trout dish was prepared well and tasty too. Another visit and I enjoyed a beet and goat cheese salad, the fried goat cheese with the salad was good. The atmosphere is modern, upscale, jazzy, cosmopolitan. Service is friendly and adequate. Bar is comfortable and simply supplied. Wine seems to be the emphasis. Bartender seemed inexperienced but willing. Take a date unless you don't mind staring at a video fish tank behind the bar. I'll be back.
