Chile Walks is a fantastic little ecotour company. Lynn and Janine Gray are the owners, and they treat every patron with great care. My husband and I are hikers, so we chose the "Guided Nature Walk at Ocoa." It was an unforgettable experience. Our guide, Paola, picked us up at the hotel and drove us the 70 minutes to Campana National Park. We hiked and learned about interesting wildlife and fauna all the way up a mountain to a beautiful waterfall, and then enjoyed a picnic at the peak. If we had to plan the week all over again, we would have done two or three days with Chile Walks. They are a five-star outfit!

In February of 2013 my wife and I spent 3 days in Concon, just outside of the town of Valparaiso Chile at a bed and breakfast called Posada del Parque. Chile Walks took us on excursions in the surrounding area. We were interested especially in birds, and the nature, and for this, these excursions were excellent. Janine one of the owners was our guide, she was very knowledgeable especially of the various birds we saw, which was my special interest but above that she was very very knowledgeable of the botany i.e. the vegetation, reptiles, and history. Her English is fluent , and her accounts, of for instance Darwin's mountain and its history which we visited, the ,Jubaea chilensis, Chilean palm trees which we saw as well as a myriad of other flora and fauna, were extremely detailed and comprehensive. As part of one of our day tours we also went to a small boutique type local restaurant which we would've never found and were treated to a typical Chilean lunch- all in all I would highly recommend this tour group if you are ever in Valpariso and want to get a taste of Chile beyond the concrete city. Janine is a native Chilean, Spanish of course is her mother tongue and she smoothed easily out some of the little misunderstandings where we were staying and of course there were no problems in any of the places we visited. If I had any fault it is that, if you are on a tight budget, then it gets expensive, but if you can afford it you do get your money's worth, not speaking Spanish you would be hard pressed to get such an experience on your own.

Our tour guide, Janine, picked us up promptly. She speaks English perfectly, and has a delightful personality and an encyclopedic knowledge of the flora & fauna. The driver was courteous and careful, and the vehicle was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our visit to Cachagua and Zapallar immensely. Everything about our tour was perfect.

We took a day trip to the Colliguay Valley in October 2012.  We were collected by our guide Janine in Vina del Mar and comprised a small group of three.  We drove to the Colliguay Valley which is very much off the beaten track and definitely not part of the conventional tourist trail.  On arrival we were introduced to our local guide, Marcello and the horses!  The riding experience of our group varied (including no experience at all) and riding Chilean style is very different to European horse riding.  A quick lesson and then we were off up the side of the valley.  The pace was slow - just as well as the terrain was quite steep - and Marcello ensured that everyone was comfortable with the pace.  Both he and Janine had an excellent knowledge of the local flora and fauna and pointed out much of interest on the way. Questions were welcomed and they were happy to stop if you wanted to take photos.  We stopped for a picnic lunch (supplied) and then back down the trail before finishing back at Marcello's home for further refreshments.  The traditional economy of the valley was explained to us and we were shown the bee hives (bee related products are produced and sold locally) as well as a local craft workshop where the traditional spinning, weaving and knitting skills are practiced by local women and available for sale.
