A nice, international luxury hotel at the best location in Stone Town. I stayed here for a combination of work and relaxation, and it delivered a wonderful work-ation that more than satisfied me-- but for those picky travelers out there, it won't match up to the quality of Park Hyatts elsewhere in the world. It was just the little things, like the light being out in the elevator for most of the time, no bottle opener in the room despite the mini bar all being glass bottles, TV in the bathroom that it doesn't work, and the room service rigatoni with tomato and basil turning out to be penne with tomato and cilantro (still delicious... but not what was advertised).
The food is quite good, and I actually found the casual poolside "Living Room" menu to be better than the more formal "Dining Room" restaurant. The poolside menu had delicious and interesting vegetarian and vegan options, including fried seaweed with guacamole, grilled vegetable sandwich with moutabbal, and a mezze bar.
For the work traveler it was great, with reliable high speed internet (which some of Zanzibar's other luxury hotels just can't deliver), plenty of power outlets, and lots of nice, quiet spots to work or take a call. And, of course, amazing sea views.
It's also easy walking distance to just about anything you'd want to do in Stone Town :-)More
