A charming, historic building. For those who appreciate antiques and aesthetics, this hotel is top notch. Food, coffee and service are excellent! The rooftop is a romantic place to have coffee or just take in Stone town’s view. Everything is a walk-up (no elevators), so if you have issues with stairs, this may not be for you.

Zanzibar Coffee House is a beautifully refurbished historic building right in the heart of Stone Town. The rooms are quaint, the coffee is amazing and the staff really go above and beyond. And, breakfast on the roof top is a perfect way to start the day! I will definitely return!
We have just had a lovely 2 night stay at Zanzibar Coffee House. Arriving early after our flight from Arusha, we were very pleased to be offered a free coffee, able to check in early and appeared to have been upgraded! We were in the huge Cappuccino Suite which was beautifully decorated and so cool with powerful aircon, providing the perfect escape from exploring the busy, hot town. Being right in the city centre means there is some noise, but this is to be expected and is certainly not a distraction. The breakfast upstairs on the roof terrace was delicious (fruit, pastries & omelette with fresh juice). Our favourite part of our stay though were the smiling and ever so friendly staff. Perla has worked at ZCH for 15 years and is absolutely fantastic, but all the ladies are wonderful. We would not hesitate to recommend ZCH or stay there again in future.
This hotel is in perfect location to visit Stone Town.It is an authentic Swahili house which has been converted in an aesthetic way.The ground floor actually is a coffee house with a great choice of home made fresh and delicious cakes.The roof top tea house has a wonderful panorama where you can relax and where breakfast takes place
Noreen and her staff are very welcoming engaging and willing to assist in anyway possible.Noreen organised return taxis to airport and it was right choice as the driver guided me to and from hotel through the maze of alleyways.She also organised a three hour guided tour of the town with Amour who was very knowledgeable and drew attention to finer historic details .
The Arabic room was spacious and tastefully decorated with air conditioning as well as a fan.Importantly it also provided a safe.
The breakfast was superb with fruit cereals omelettes sourdough bread and fresh fruit juice

Best breakfast spot in Stone Town. We were staying in a nearby Airbnb apartment and found the Zanzibar Coffee House on Tripadvisor. Amazing breakfasts with just the best coffee. Lovely views over Stone Town from the rooftop eating area. Good value and they take payment with payment cards with no supplement. Lovely friendly staff and quick service.
We stayed here for one night , but loved it so much . The detail to each bedroom was amazing and the rooms and furnishing were gorgeous . The biggest pull for us was the kindness of the staff , i don't think we have ever had this kind of service given so naturally out of kindness . Check out time is 10am and our flight was not until 3am .
A lovely lady called Neema , i believe let us leave our luggage there and then she let us come back shower and rest in a room until the taxi , she booked picked us up at 1am. The kindness of this was very appreciated. She had one room that was not being used that night so gave it to us for those precious few hours with our child .
We will never forget this place . The breakfast on the roof overlooking stone town was so delicious and what a view ! The hotel is right in the center , making it super easy to see all .
