We dipped into Riad Imlil on our first day in Imlil - partly to get away from a pushy guy who accosted us on the street offering accommodation in his house. The place was clean and pleasant and the 300 dirham per room rate was excellent. It also had a nice restaurant - ideal! But When we went to eat in the restaurant - we had to leave our coats on! Despite the presence of a large stove and gas heater in the room, the owner thought our shivers were exaggerated. And as we settled down to sleep that night, it became apparent that the room was absolutely freezing. We stayed two nights. The room was not tidied on the second morning - though that is understandable: we had requested extra blankets so the pushed together beds were a heap in the middle of the room!
We are used to "roughing it" and if there had been the warm, friendly Morroccan service we have become used to elsewhere, maybe we would have stayed on. The manager was courteous but despite us being almost the only guests, he was not particularly interested in helping us. We moved to Dar Imlil after our second night and found a much better service there.

Attracted by the Kasbah du Toubkal we arrived in Imlil. A small village in a stunning area. We didn't have any reviews of the hotels in Imlil and by accident arrived in Riad Imlil. We had lunch there on the roof terrace which has a stunning view on the mountains. The food was good and we decided to stay.
The rooms are nice and clean, and we paid 30 euro (300 dirham) for a double. The breakfast was delicious and diverse (bread, eggs, pancakes etc.) and we also ate there in the evening. Nice Moroccon food and well prepared.
It is a shame that Imlil itself is not the nicest village to stay for a long time, but there are very good hiking trails and you can start and finish your visit to the area in Imlil. We just did day hikes and that was enjoyable as well. There are approximately 3 good day hikes to explore from Imlil

This is a lovely riad option, a myriad of rooms, but far easier access and far cheaper than the rather inaccessible Kasbah Toubkal. Food was pretty good, breakfasts as with most in Morocco are pretty limited, but overall a good clean place to stay and a good base for trekking.

I just got back from Morocoo and stayed at this place whilst trekking to Toubkal. It has a very nice feel to it with a myriad of terraces and about 20 rooms which were about 50 Euro for a double. The manager Rashied was very helpful and spoke some English but was ably assisted Mohammad who owns a shop directly outside the hotel. They even served us a hearty breakfast outside out room every morning and nothing was too much trouble, they are a much cheaper option if you wanted go trekking and will organise a guide for you at a fraction of the price at the much flashier kasbah. We ate at both places and the Riad Imlil definitely had a better chef and was much cheaper so even if your not staying there go for a bite to eat; if you can find the restaurant through the maze of crooks and crannies. Be warned, bring your own alcohol as Imlil is dry, they will let you drink it if you bring it but don't sell it.

During our recent trip to Morocco, we wanted to do a bit of trekking in the High Atlas. The options to stay in Imlil seemed a bit limited and dominated by the presence of Kasbah Toubkal and Dar Imlil. We stumbled across this place but could find no reviews anywhere. I am glad we gave it a go.

The riad is made of stone, and is very charmingly decorated. Our room was basic, rustic in style, but clean. Although there is no central heating, our room had a space heater and an air conditioner. (It was quite cold while we were there and if you're going in winter as we did I would advise you to bring warm clothes!)

The riad is located in the center of town, very close everything.

There were 2 courtyards, a large seating area in the foyer, a huge and fabulous roof terrace and a large dining area. We had both breakfast and dinner and the food was very nice. Breakfast was a boiled egg, cheese, local bread, jam, honey, fresh OJ, and coffee or tea. Dinner was to order and was about 750-900 dirhams per person.

The hotel staff spoke French but not English but were very helpful and gracious. I'd certainly stay here again.

As a side note, we did walk up to Kasbah Toubkal, which we did consider but turned down due to the high price. I think we made the right choice as Riad Imlil seemed a much better value for money.
