We stayed here for a week for same price as a local hotel for one night.
It's situated on the sea front in an amazing location. You could pay a lot of money for this view. It's amazing looking over grand baie and its boats
The lady who welcomed us was brilliant, a local lady who by first impressions must be the most fun person in the country
We got an instant free upgrade to a bigger room. The rooms are ok , a very comfy bed, spacious bedrooms The kitchen had a fridge freezer and cooking stove. The shower worked so that was good enough for us.
This isn't a 5 star hotel, but a perfect apartment close to local beeches and shops

Ok, this is not 5 star luxury but the view rivals any 5 star hotel that I have stayed in.

There is no hiding the fact that this place is a little rough and ready, but it is great for the price. We had a private balcony overlooking the sea, on which we had a bbq every night which was very kindly provided by the wonderful people that run this place.

Stay here and you will find yourself in the middle of a Mauritian community (complete with prayer session next door every evening), with families, dogs, friendly locals and lots of other things which will make you smile.

There are caveats with this place - it is not spotless, the furniture, including the bed, is pretty old, and the locks on the doors are a little stiff (we spent three days climbing in and out of the window) but the pluses far outweigh those minor negatives.

All in all, it was highly relaxing, thoroughly enjoyable, and I highly recommend Pillay to you. If you want to be close to the beaches surrounding Grand Baie, but away from the brashness of the centre of town, and you are on a budget, look no further than this place.

Lovely guesthouse on the waterfront in a local area. Small sandy beach and balconies to enjoy the sea views. Shop at top of street does great chicken roties for aus 1.60. The family are very friendly and also organised transfers, car hire and trips.
