“Homey, comfortable property with an excellent location”
Reviewed 18 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My husband and I travelled with our three-year-old and my parents to Verona and Sylvan Beach and stayed at this excellent property. We had a great time exploring the area across the bridge in Sylvan Beach on foot; it was about a 10 minute walk to the amusement park and a few of the touristy restaurants and about 5 minutes further to the public beach. Parking across the bridge wasn't all that bad, but it was nice to be able to walk. It was also great to be on the other side of the bridge because the neighborhood was very quiet and relaxed. The walk to the lake is under 5 minutes and there's a large grassy area next to the lake.

There is plenty of parking and a large yard with a partial fence. It's on two pretty quiet roads so it was a good yard for our son to play in even though it wasn't completely fenced in.

The house was very comfortable. The bathroom was definitely updated, but the other rooms feel clean and comfortable but older, so if you're looking for something fancy, look elsewhere. It was just right for us, though! It fit right in with the feeling of the area. The kitchen is large and airy and we loved sitting at the picnic table on the porch to eat. The main table is in the living room and when it was too hot that was nice to have as well.

One caution is that the single bathroom is downstairs and all the bedrooms are upstairs, so if someone has somewhat limited mobility, they may have difficulty getting to the bathroom at night. There were window air conditioners throughout as well as fans to supplement. The main queen room has a door and the twin bed room has a door. You walk through the room with the bunk bed to get to the twin bed room, so it might be a little awkward if three unrelated couples were to split the house.

“Disappointing accomodations.”

I booked this property because the pictures made the house look fairly new and comfortable. PROS: the owner responds to questions right away and is helpful. It is a 2 minute walk to the lake. The owner has provided dishware, soap, detergent for the washer, towels and plenty of bed linens. You will like this property if you like rustic or antiquated furnishings. There are air-conditioners and fans for use on hot days.
CONS: We were informed that the house was cleaned prior to our arrival, but the bed coverings did not smell fresh. The couch was stained and covered with old sheets. There was an overall musty smell that permeated the house, which initiated allergic reactions in two people in our party. The odor may be due to the fact that the house is so close to the water. A frequent airing out of the house by leaving the windows open could help with this issue. I am an avid coffee drinker and there is a Mr. Coffee maker provided. However, it is very old, the plate is burned, and there were forgotten grinds in the filter which had started to grow mold. For planning purposes, there are 4 twin beds, two of which are joined as a bunk bed. The fifth bed is a double bed. It is a 40 minute ride to downtown Syracuse. If you plan to spend a lot of time there, you will spend too much time travelling back and forth. The grill and "fire-pit" were covered in tree branches. The price was high compared to other local accommodations. There was no lake view from the house.

“Great all around place and area”

It was our first time to the Verona Beach area. The area is excellent for our purposes. Decent beach, ok amusement park, but we knew what to expect via research. It is an older beach area and it shows, but has its own charm. Polite folks all around.

The house itself was perfect, well stocked for all your needs. Had to make no runs to a local store for that one item you might randomly need. Good condition all around. Entire area is walkable from the house. Beach Parking is 7 bucks a day if you decide to not walk the 3 blocks.

I would recommend the place for anyone in the area. The area is ok for kids under 10. Teens may get bored.

“Quaint and comfortable”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We enjoyed our stay at Verona Beach very much. The owners were excellent to work with. The location was convenient to the lake, a small amusement park and arcade, putt-putt, and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.
