Discovered this hidden gem while in Troy a few weeks ago. It most fits the "fast casual" model. Ordering is at a counter in the back of the restaurant, after which food is delivered to your table. The dining room is small, but quaint and very comfortable. There is a great bar in the adjoining room, dining at an outdoor courtyard area behind the restaurant.

We tried a variety of dishes, and enjoyed all of them. The prices are quite reasonable, and the specialty cocktails delicious.

So why not 5 stars? Mostly because I'm used to my bibimbap having crispy rice at the bottom. Theirs did not. In fact the one overall negative that stood out for us was that every single dish came out at just above room temperature. The flavors were good, but I wish the food had been hot.

We ate at Sunhees to get an authentic Korean dinner. Most of the other places where I've eaten Korean food feature it alongside other Asian cuisines, but Sunhee's is exclusively Korean right down to the imported cans of soda and soy beverages. Orders are taken at the counter in back (no table service is offered), and food is then delivered by the staff as it comes out of the kitchen.

We had delicious scallion pancakes as an appetizer (enough for two people), then moved on to entrees of tofu Bi Bim Bap and Soft Tofu Stew with seafood. The Bi Bim Bap was great and came with a small side of homemade kimchi (as did the stew), but my dining companion loves kimchi so she ordered a pint of cucumber kimchi in a mason jar as a side. The kimchi was nicely seasoned. The Soft Tofu Stew was excellent, but not suitable for vegetarians (even when made without seafood) as it contains anchovies in the fish sauce broth. Both entrees also included purple sticky rice (yum) and a dab of hot sauce.

The patio was not open when we ate, as it had rained pretty hard earlier in the day, but a tent is set up out back. There is a bar attached, but in a separate room.

The vibe of Sunhee's is enlightened as they featured ingredients from their farm, reusable steel chopsticks and mugs for water, and homemade kimchi.

Overall, this was an affordable, yummy and pleasant dining experience in the heart of downtown Troy. I will return often.

Since the Olympics I have wanted to try Korean food and Sunhee was a great introduction. The dumplings and scallion pancakes were delicate and full of flavor. The bugogli was wonderful. The prices were reasonable but the restaurant is self service and since food is made to order there may be a wait. A big plus to the owners for being environmental minded. There are recycling bins for all refuse and even the chopsticks are metal and reusable. Wonderful experience.

Recently learned of Sunhee's Farm and Kitchen and decided to give it a try. Exceeded every expectation. Nice selection of beverages at the bar. Engaging and helpful staff in the bar and when ordering food. Delicious appetizers and main dishes. Will be back!

Among the best I’ve had outside of big Korean community enclaves. Very fresh, good quality. Dumplings were very lightly fried, not chewy, very flavorful. (White) Radish pickles were amazing, using a variety of white radish that either is or us stained brown by soy fermenting. I loved them. Bib Bim Bab very traditionally done, with egg and beef was as good as any I’ve had. Accompanying Kim chi is very small - order it as a side they make (and sell jars of) their own. Interesting beverage options including some craft drafts. Will be back soon!
