We were desperately seeking a good dog friendly restaurant in the downtown Syracuse area near the Marriott Hotel. This hit all the issues including the GF diet my wife has.

In probably would not do the Lobster salad w/ double the Lobster meat, although the salad was good the Lobster meat was still sparse. The chocolate decadent dessert was superb and the beers as well as wine selection was really excellent. The bar tenders were very cool and allowed for a couple of tastings of their wide selection of beers.

We go here a lot for lunch. It's a great place for groups. You order at the bar, so it makes it a lot easier to pay. They also put everyone on the same buzzer so you can still eat at the same time. There's options for everyone -- I really like the spinach and artichoke dip.

We stopped in for beverage and light lunch. The server at the side bar ignored us when we walked in... so after waiting a couple minutes we went ahead and sat ourselves at one of the tables (very nice marbles tables and booths!). Another person from the kitchen noticed us and we asked for menus and were informed there is no table service and to order from the bar when we were ready.

We ordered a hot beef sandwich with au jus to split, onions and horseradish on the side and chips with spinach artichoke dip. I ordered an IPA from there selection, only to have the keg go empty mid-pour with no backup. Bartender apologized and offered another selection for me to sample.
No discount was offered even though I had ordered the most expensive beer on the menu. Somewhat disappointed in service, but food prep, quality was very good. Be willing to give them another chance.

This was a new car place to have lunch. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the different beers and ciders. He suggested to great ciders that we enjoyed. The shrimp and crab dip is AMAZING. It’s s must try. All the staff is friendly. Nice spot.

While wandering downtown Syracuse in the Armory Square area, stumbled across the Blue Tusk. EVERYBODY working downtown seemed to be here (the rest of them were at Empire Brewry except for the suits, who were at Lemon Grass). Looks like at least on a Friday, Syracuse workers have a beer with their sandwiches (at least a small one, although plenty were seen with pints). It’s basically a big bar, although some old phone booths have been converted to tables in one wing of the place. You order and pay for your sandwich at the front (off to the right side of the bar) from friendly, helpful staff. Sides are extra and limited (bag of chips, potato salad, soups of the day). But they are very serious about the sandwiches. We had grilled paninis, her’s (Chicken Tusk) was better than mine (Chicken Cordon Blue, but still pretty darn good). Great vibe. Lots of beers on tap — Syracuse apparently is a town that takes craft beer very seriously, but doesn’t frown on the Lite drinkers. Strongly recommend Blue Tusk for lunch and local color.
