“The Price is Right”
Reviewed 12 June 2012

Well run, spotlessly clean, very reasonably priced for Saratoga Springs. While an old motel, it has been refurbished, is clean and provides very comfortable bedding. This well-located property is a short walk into the heart of town with several restaurants within a block.

Room Tip: I chose to be located on the second floor and had a room in the southwest corner which was quiet and...

I was hesitant to book this hotel, however I'm very pleased I did. Last year we stayed at the Best Western on our way to Americade, but their price was now $139 per night. The The Springs Motel was close to town, clean, the staff was friendly and was priced just right. The owners wife checked us in and the owner checked us out and Justine took my reservation. If you are looking for a clean no frills place to stay, this is it.

For low-cost lodging in Saratoga Springs, this was a good value given other rates nearby. Easy to find, easy to park, and conveniently close to historic downtown.

The room was clean, but a plastic mat in the tub -- though fairly new -- inhibited me from using the bathtub. (I don't view those plastic mats as sanitary. Just give me a clean tub surface.)

The room smelled like many motels & hotels with an air conditioner condensation problem: musty. Not the worst, but noticeable. The tap water was absolutely horrible: it smelled moldy! Although I dislike ingesting the toxins leached from plastic bottles, I drank the bottled water left in the room since the tap water was terrible.

The refrigerator wasn't functioning optimally and my food got frozen, even on the bottom shelf (away from the small freezer section). Fridge had been set on "5" when I arrived. When I subsequently turned the dial down to "3" of 10, water dripped all over inside the fridge even though there hadn't been any visible frost build-up on the freezer section.

Room gave a cold impression due deep blue carpet and several large blank walls. Could use a feng shui consult.

Pros:
- Air conditioner provided good levels of cooling (with the expected fan noise) and room retained temp long enough that I didn't need it running all night.
- I liked the soap provided.
- Grounds are well-maintained and the staff is friendly & helpful.
- Pool wasn't open for the season yet, but looked clean and appealing with a mix of flowering shrubs clustered along the exterior of the pool's perimeter fence.
- Room with 2 double beds was a decent size, not cramped.
- Towel quality and quantity were above average for this room rate: $70/night.

I'd try other lodging in Saratoga Springs next time, unless this one has the very best rate during pool season!

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room and was given one upstairs, "away from the highway." It was quie...

Needed an overnight stop, and this place delivered. Nothing fancy, but neither was the price. Location is great and the owners operate the place and care. And it shows.

Room Tip: They have a midweek price special you only get by phoning. One time where the phone beats the intern...

I ALWAYS stay here. If you want to pay double and have a bigger bathroom, go right ahead with the many choices. If you want clean, great service, then stay here!! Carl is always the gentleman, and you wont be disappointed. Friendly staff, clean room, very very reasonable - why stay anywhere else?
