The atmosphere is nice and the waitstaff was terrific. The food was too salty and cheesy. Big portions of subpar food!

My husband and I dined here for the first time this year. We had read reviews on Tripadvisor and thought it might be worth a try. The restaurant itself is very interesting. We took a little walk around it after dinner. There are a number of split levels with seating tucked into cozy niches and some in large open spaces. Lots of interesting nooks and crannies, an indoor waterfall and coy pond with a little bridge.
The staff is very friendly. Our server was very helpful with information and suggestions. She came to check on us after each course was served. I even noticed her bringing a wine sample to the gentleman at the next table so he could decide if he wanted to order that particular wine for dinner.
The food was terrific. I had the 3 course special for $20: the best onion soup I ever tasted--it had 3 cheeses melted over it and 2 kinds of dark bread in the soup itself. Great flavor. My prime rib was huge and the garlic mashed potatoes were great. Apple cobbler for dessert with apples that thankfully had not been overcooked into the mush that you sometimes get. My husband had haddock stuffed with shrimp and scallops in a lobster sauce and he loved it.
We will definitely be making this a regular stop when we come up for racing season in the future!

Great ambience and aesthetics, friendly and polite staff. Food was average at best, get the burger, the only dish that was above average.

More often than not we go to Longfellows on our date nights. It's a nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, diverse menu, and usually pretty good food. It's our favorite local restaurant - we know we'll get a good meal here and the service is usually good. If you've never been it's definitely worth checking out.
