This is a most amazing museum. From trophies to jockey's silks to paintings, trophies and videos, this is a must-see if you are even only mildly interested in horses or racing.

The Museum and Hall of Fame was a surprisingly interesting way to spend a few hours. There was a replica of a starting gate with life-like people holding the horse and standing by...great photo opportunity. The jockey's silks were displayed along with trophies from most of the big stakes races, a tote board, and many souvenirs from races going back to the 1800's. A "purse" was displayed along with the story that real purses were used holding the money bet on the race and given to the winner after the race, a term still used today, but without the purse. We didn't plan this visit but we're glad we did.

This is a small museum recalling the history of harness racing in Saratoga through the years.
It is located at the opposite side of the the grandstand, at the other end of the parking.
It is really worth a stop, even if only interested a little in the harness racing industry and history.
The docent at the museum is really interesting and and has great story telling.
A must on your Saratoga visit that won't take you much time but you will enjoy for sure.

It gives a history (a long one) of harness racing in Saratoga. An oft forgotten big time entertainment back in the 40's and 50's. Biggest and best show in town.
