We enjoyed our one night at Gauthier's. We were 4 adults so we had room #41, which was on the lake level. Beds are soft, too soft for us. Room was clean, bathroom was clean, and after leaving the fan on for a while the feeling that we were in a basement room dissipated. There are several boats, available for guest use, we didn't have a chance to take advantage of that feature, but it's definitely a bonus at this motel. There were also a few bicycles available. All around satisfactory, could use some updating here and there, but if your not too fussy, Gauthier's could be the place for your Adirondack adventure.

First the pluses... location, location, location! It is on Flower Lake which is beautiful. They have plenty of water toys,i.e. canoes, kayaks, paddleboats. There are iconic Adirondack chairs by the water to just sit and relax. Also, not to be missed is the excellent Mexican restaurant, Casa Del Sol, across the street. A bonus when you want to have a few margaritas and not have to worry about driving on dark country roads (yes, I'm a city gal!).

Now for the negatives. What can I say that hasn't been said before about this hotel (motel?). It needs a LOT of loving..... mold around the seams in the molded plastic shower, horrible beds and worse pillows, tired / dirty carpet. I had 2 major complaints beyond this, however. First, there was a hole punched into the bathroom door. When I told the manager while checking out about it he said it was the 1st he had heard about it, his reaction said something different. The 2nd issue was towels. Although clean, on our 2nd day they were left folded on the bed in our room (no biggie here). When i went to grab one for a shower, it was still damp...... cold and damp..... ugh. Is it lack of caring? Money to reinvest into the property? Poor training for the cleaning staff? Whatever, I will not be back to find out.

Room Tip: If you go, ask for a room w/lake views. Although we didn't have this room, room 31 looked really nice.

I choose this Inn because of it's affiliation with Audubon International for sustainability practices. (The Audubon Society and Audubon International are NOT related in anyway.)
For the most part, this place practiced what it preached - containers for recycling in rooms, hints about being gentler on our planet, changing towels only when asked. And, being able to have our own kayaks right outside our door, on Lake Flower, was a big plus.

However, the shower dripped constantly, wasting gallons per day and making the bathroom damp. And, very little place to hang towels or anything else in the bathroom. It was quiet, and had helpful staff.

Room Tip: Rooms on the water seem quieter.

Probably the most uncomfortable beds we've ever slept on. Fridge had moldy chicken wings in it and was unplugged. Lake view equated to a marina view filled with boats. Both paddle boats were broken, paddle board was bent in the middle and sinking even though we only had just my 180 lb body on it. Bathroom water temperature was all over the place and went from burning hot to ice cold while my kids were showering. Wife and daughter stabbed their feet on the exposed carpet nail strip just outside the bathroom. We don't watch TV often but decided to turn it on. All channels were fuzzy. Every last one. Smelled like 1975 inside. We opened every last window and door and got up to 1976. Staff was friendly. It all stops there. Stay in your car.

We stayed with our kids and the rooms need some updating. The carper needs to be updated and the window treatments need some fixing. You get no privacy unless you close the curtains which block the view and all the light. As far as the view, there's no view of the lake just the marina. The boats that are available for use are a great touch, so is the service, everyone was very nice.
