“Hudson River Delight”

Charming location with wonderful view of the Hudson. Four star dining (AMAZING breakfast included in room rate), friendly, helpful staff. Our room was very nice and very clean, with high ceilings and interesting details; my only complaint is the lack of surface space, but we managed. Great bathroom with giant shower stall and big whirlpool tub. Comfy bed with nice linens.
If you need something, ask the staff. They will do all they can to accomodate.
Do be aware of Amtrak tooting the whistle in the wee hours; guests are pre warned of this and earplugs are provided, but it did not disrupt our stay.
Hotel is just 2 miles from charming Rhinebeck, and minutes away from lovely little villages like Millbrook. Don't miss Wing Castle in Millbrook.

The historic Rhinecliff Hotel is right on the railroad tracks. All day long until around 10 p.m. trains go by, tooting. After 10 the freight trains start and the hotel rumbles until close to midnight. While the setting along the Hudson is lovely (without trains) you've got to love trains! Also if you stay on the 2nd floor, you hear every footstep of those above you. Would not recommend it unless you're a train buff.

Just ate there today. We had the pork for 2; it was sooo juicy. Also had the razor clams and softshell crabs. We were there with some friends and had a blast. The food was amazing. I had never had some of the items on the menu and was a little worried, but we were assured that all the seafood was good and fresh and it certainly was. The cormeal crusted oysters were very big and tasted super fresh. The service left a little to be desired, though. Our server seemed timid and not very knowledgeable; she kept having to go to the kitchen to ask questions. She was a very pleasant woman but it was a very choppy and clumsy approach. There wasn't really any evidence of service management until we saw the owner, James. He was quite nice and we even got to talk to one of the chefs. My friends and I are from the city and are definitely recommending this place to our city friends.

we found ourselves at Rhinecliff purely by chance.we had declined a $10 corkage fee in Rhinebeck and wound up here.we left the bottle in the car and I had a Fin Du Monde beer and a croque monsieur as we looked over the Hudson. It was pure magic at a very reasonable price.perfect weather, great food, good service.the arrival of a train was deafening but quickly over.one of the best moments of our trip

We were a party of four out for dinner on a Monday night. Three of the entrees were burnt and two had to be sent back to the kitchen.
I did reach out to the owners but never received a reply. This is a shabby way to treat customers who live locally and occasionally dine at the Rhinecliff.

All in all we paid alot of money for inferior food although the second time round ( when two of the orders were redone) were fine. BUT two of us had finished our main course and the evening dragged out waiting. Dessert was gratis as an apology.
