Went to Essie’s last night for a family dinner. My nephew attends the CIA and highly recommended it. Lovely neighborhood spot. Interior was charming and reminiscent of a Greenwich village restaurant. Greeted and seated immediately (we had reservations). Ordered fried grits appetizer and cheese plate and was a great size nibble for 6. Crafted cocktails were so original and a great wine list. Small plates are offered and they are very generous portions. Clams and mussels was entree size really. Steak cooked to perfection. I had the roast pork loin that had a delicious sauce. I love when a chef pays as much attention to the veg as the protein.
The service was impeccable. On target with timing as well as very knowledgeable about wine and food. Chef Brandon Walker does it all! Mixes a great cocktail, prepares fantastic food, mixes with the customers. Really a delight! Lucky to have this amazing chef here in the Hudson Valley ... where great chefs are made!
