My wife had found this gem and it just looked like a beautiful B&B. Our room was in the back with it own entrance and this was perfect. We could sit out on our own balcony, have a nice glass of wine and look at the stars. George and Maryann made us feel so welcome our time just flew by. Of all the B&B we have stayed at Maryann has without doubt the best breakfast, the best. And the coffee, wow, like the icing on a great cake. They have not been here long but what an accomplishment. I know they will be a huge success.

WOW. What can I say? The first leg of our gal pal trip was spent at this wonderful place. This part was so much better then the Hotel/Spa that we went to in Fairport, NY for the last leg of the trip. Several times we stated that we "missed being at the B &B". Maryann and George are right in their element with being innkeepers. Their knowledge of the area is phenomenal. The breakfasts are wonderful - farm to table fresh. Not to mention Maryann's ability to create great dishes and breads (Yummmmmyyyy) What they have accomplished since February is amazing. Congratulations. Best wishes for your future endeavors including the cider making. Keep up the great work.

We booked and was charged for 4 nights through bedandbreakfast.com this past June. We sent the Wagener Estate a copy of our confirmation letter 2 days prior to our arrival date. We got an email back from the Wagener Estate stating they have no vacancy for those days in spite of our email confirmation and charge to our credit card. Fortunately after more than an hour on the phone with the booking agent, we got a refund, but left us scrambling to find lodging elsewhere in Penn Yan. We did, and had a glorious stay at another lovely neighboring B&B.

Ramon
We are sorry about your experience with a booking agent. We update our calendar every morning so all of our information is current. We researched and just spoke with Bed and Breakfast.com who we list our property on and they/we show no record of a Ramon request for reservation in June. There was another person who had requested dates through Bed and Breakfast in June who's information never was sent to us, through a "glitch" in their reservation system. They have assured us that it would not happen again, and it has not. Glad at least you got to visit Penn Yan and sounds like you had a great time. Please consider us on your next visit, and check our web site at Wagenerestate.com for current availability and rates.
Thanks
George and Maryann Reigelsperger

My husband and I love staying in B&B's, so when we were looking into making our first trip to visit the Finger Lakes, we thought we would give the Wagener Estate a try. We had no idea what to expect on this long weekend getaway as it was our first time visiting this area. We had a general plan to check out some wineries but nothing much beyond that. When we arrived in Penn Yan, the town seemed a bit sleepy. However, when we pulled onto the property of the Wagener Estate, we were instantly charmed. Not only is the homestead beautiful as a historic building itself, but what really took our stay to the next level were the owners, George and Maryann. Their warm hospitality made us instantly feel welcomed. Breakfast is served at 9 am on the beautiful front porch and it is not something to be missed! My husband and I are both self proclaimed foodies and we are still talking about how amazing Maryann's breakfasts were. She makes all her own breads and muffins and uses local ingredients... it really can't get much better. We thoroughly enjoyed talking with both George, Maryann and their lovely family about the history of the Estate and how it has come back into their family over the course of the last year. Each morning they were were quick to recommend things to do, such as specific wineries, breweries, local sites, and restaurants. Without their recommendations we truly would have been lost! To sum it all up, we would highly recommend a stay here. This is a trip we will look back on for years to come and hope to make an annual stay each summer.

(Remember that the current owners have had this estate in their charge only since early 2015. As such, please disregard reviews that were written based on stays before this time.)
George and Maryann, the owners, are absolutely fantastic people. They are genuinely invested in the community of Penn Yan, the history of the property, and their guests. It was a true pleasure speaking with them each day about their plans for the inn (cider using apples from the trees outside! room renovations! etc.), things to do in the area, and how they came to be the owners of the inn.
Maryann makes the best B&B breakfasts we have ever had. Hands down. (And we've stayed at quite a few B&Bs with very good breakfasts...) Sitting on the lovely porch to eat these delicious creations was just a bonus.
The common areas are lovely, and Maryann leaves baked goods for guests in the afternoons.
We stayed in the Rebecca Room, which has its own porch. We enjoyed sitting here in the evenings to watch birds and just enjoy a cooler breeze after the summer day.
Heads up- The bed in the Rebecca Room is pretty high. We had to climb or jump into it. Not a problem for many folks, but those who have concerns with their back or knees might wish to stay in a different room at this inn.

I've given Wagener Estate a 4.0 for now because I know after they finish their renovations everything will be even better. Can't wait to stay here again and give it a 5.0!

April and Neil,

It makes our job so easy when we have incredible guests like the two of you. We appreciate your comments and I am working on new recipes with you both in mind.. Thanks for giving us "TALL" people a clue on bed height. There now is a foot stool for the backroom bed. Can't wait for your next visit..

Warmest Regards

Maryann & George
