This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I stayed there over a weekend when they could charge premium prices, but the cost was the highest I have ever paid for a hotel anywhere in the world. And I've traveled to Honolulu, San Francisco, Washington, New York, London and Paris. (I've stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria for less than what I paid the Clarion.) So when I was paying multi-hundreds of dollars for a room, I certainly did not expect to be put in a room with peeling wallpaper, popcorn ceiling that was dropping on the floor, a bed that was so worn out that it tilted sideways and made me feel like I was falling out of bed. And the staff was among the most lackadaisical I have ever encountered. And when you walk into the lobby, expected to encounter a strong, really strong smell of chlorine from the swimming pool. (Pro tip: That means that the chemicals are not balanced properly.) What added insult to injury is that the hotel adds a "maintenance fee" to the daily bill. I might have been willing to pay the maintenance fee if it appeared that the money actually went to any maintenance work at the property. Alas, that was not the case. Shameful! Shameful! Shameful! P.S. to hotel manager: The carpets in the hallway should really be replaced, but if you can't do that you should at least have them shampooed.More
