We stayed at the Goebels Hotel in Willingen once for a weekend with the family. We all really enjoyed it.
This time around we tried the Goebels at the Diemel Lake. The hotel seems to be in the middle of nowhere but it was fully booked while we were there.

The reception area is bright and welcoming and the staff was friendly. Checking in wasn’t a problem at all.
It was just a bit confusing to find our room at first. The rooms are a bit dated but taken care of. I especially liked our two story room. There were some small let downs in the room, like very low shower pressure, worn beds and no air-condition. Also very annoying was the Wi-Fi Signal. While I never had a good reception with my phone, due to the very remote area, I was relying on the Wi-Fi which really never worked for any of us.
We arrived very late on Friday and were hoping to book a massage at the Spa but given the time window the Spa was open on the weekend, we didn’t have a chance.
Also the bar in the evening was disappointing and understaffed. We waited long for bad drinks. (Out of the bottle Hugo’s, no good wines and in general limited options.)

Breakfast was fine as well as the dinner buffet. Overall the hotel was ok but the location is nothing for young people. The Diemel Lake is full of permanent campers and pensioners. The area is so remote, I sometimes couldn’t believe we were still in Germany.

Overall, the hotel was ok for our stay. I would not come back but that’s more because of the location and less about the hotel.

We stayed here a couple of days with three kids. The apartment was really nice. It had two separate bedrooms upstairs and a large sitting + dining area downstairs. One sleep area upstairs is done like a loft so you can look down to the sitting area and also look outside. The view was very pleasant and the balcony nice when the weather is nice. The apartment has a generous bar fridge with drinks and snack and a price list.

The pool downstairs was nice and quite shallow which suited the kids. Complimentary water bottles are provided in the pool area and also fresh towels so you don't have to drag the towels down from your room. The hotel has a nice green area around the side with some swings and other equipment for the kids. We had a great time out there and it was nice for the kids to stretch their legs after a long drive. The area around the hotel is very nice and there are walking tracks around the lake.

We had all the meals in the hotel restaurant. Quality was always good although we didn't like everything but this was a question of taste rather than quality. Staff were very nice and professional. We found it quite amusing that they tolerated our poor German and insisted on helping us getting the order correct in German. Don't try to get de-caf coffee in the evening, they don't know what it is. I thoroughly confused the poor young man trying desperately to help me and finally ended up with a hot cup of milk. On-well.

Be warned that this is a spa and you can expect generously sized Germans to get around the hotel in towels. They drop the towel in the steam room. We kept to the pool area.

We had a great wintersport weekend here. Willingen is very close and Winterberg is a half hour drive. Rooms were great and spacious! Wellness facilities are amazing, Sauna, swimmingpool, steamcabin, bubble bath and so on. Breakfast is great, many choices and very german. The diner is ok but not of high quality!
If you want to book the hotel you can also check their own website for possible cheaper options!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view on the Diemelsee!

We were at a business trip in this hotel and you get not more than you expect. Poor hotel food, everytime the same in this hotel class, very boring. The rooms were quite keen-eard so you can here what's going on e.g. at the bar. But it's quite difficult to have a noce evening at the bar as it's located alsmost in the entrance. Not very cosy, no atmosphere.
