“Jazz at its Best”

Maureen's Jazz Cellar
Ranked #12 of 19 things to do in Nyack
Reviewed 18 February 2018 via mobile

Authentic jazz club in Nyack. We came up for the weekend and was happily surprised that Maureen's is the real deal. Superb music, excellent venue and a real jazz vibe. Visiting Maureen's is a must-do when in Rockland.

I live pretty close to Nyack and go there often to eat out. I had never been to Maureen's before until this weekend. We were searching for something new to do and happened upon a posting on a website for this little Jazz club. It had a Saturday night show at 8:00 PM and another at 9:30 for the Pete Malinverni Trio. The cover was 15 per person. We didn't make reservations so we gladly accepted a seat at the bar. We had a great view and listened to fun music. I am not a Jazz guy and neither is my girlfriend an afficianado. We still loved the musical offerings. The light off the eggplant purple walls and the black ceiling made for a cozy cool setting. The beer and wine selection was pretty good and the small plate of olives, grapes, brie and crackers hit the spot. We were so pleased with our little search and discovery of some non run of the mill culture in our backyard. I recommend calling ahead and making a reservation on the weekend. They clear the venue after each show for the patrons of the next set. Have fun with something a little different.

Comfortable little Jazz club in the heart of Nyack. Books world class Jazz musicians on the weekends and comedy and various types of music during the week. $10-$15 cover on weekends and $5 or free on weekdays. Good drinks, priced fairly. Pizza and light fare served, not a dinner place Friendly staff and over all great vibe. Good jazz without the hassles of Manhattan.
Conversation is discouraged during jazz performances.
