This museum houses artifacts from the Akrotiri site up until the site was buried in ash in the 17th century BC. Very interesting, but took only an hour or so even reading all the signage.

Definitely worth visiting after Akrotiri on a combined ticket (€14). There is a range of vases, pots and other objects found at the Akrotiri site and several fragments of wall paintings, cleverly displayed with the missing bits sketched on the wall.

There is a reasonable amount of information in the display, but mostly the objects speak for themselves and are in a great state of presevation thanks to the volcanic ash.

If you can’t make it to Akrotiri then this is a must!!! Many of the artifacts on display is much older than those found at Pompeii. Definitely worth a visit while in the main town of Fira.

This is a must! One of the few places on earth that someone can have a sneak peek to the past without using time travel machines...
