Expecting a hotel in the city we were pretty disappointed when the driver stopped by a white building in the middle of a field and said "we're here".

Yes - it's only a 7-10 minute walk from the city center and from all the action but it's all an uphill walk (which can be annoying on a hot day, or dressed for going out). And walking back in the dark can be a bit uncomfortable

There are advantages to being a bit far away - quieter, no problem for taxis to arrive - as long as you expect it.

The hotel itself is nice, comfortable rooms, decent breakfast and TOP NOTCH service. That's the best feature of the hotel.

We stayed here for our honeymoon last week and it was perfect! We were welcomed to the hotel with plenty of information about the island, which was a great help. We were then shown to our room, we stayed in an executive pool suite. Room was lovely, only slight downside was we could hear everything in the room above us, which was a little annoying at night. Private pool area was fab, but pool very cold!!! Staff couldn't do enough, were always pleasant and we were always greeted at breakfast to see if everything was ok with our stay, or to see if we wanted anything special cooking for breakfast. Didn't need anything else cooking as there was already plenty of choice.
Hotel is in a great position as its very quiet, but it's only a 10min walk in to the busy town of Fira. (You have to cross a couple of extremely busy roads to get there though!) Also only 10min taxi ride from airport. €25 for hotel transfer to airport....sounds expensive, but private taxi from airport to hotel cost us €20.
If we were to go to Santorini again we would definitely come back to Astro Palace.

We headed here for our honeymoon last week, and loved our stay. The staff were all so professional, yet friendly and organised.
The room was beautiful and the pool area is amazing for pool side cocktails and great vibes.
Would definitely come back again if we were ever at the island.

Beautiful but pricy hotel in Fira. We stayed for 3 nights in the executive suite with (not so) private pool. The service is impeccable. There was a family with infant in the room above us so we requested another room. The reception graciously accommodated our request.

Upon arrival we were provided a map with recommendations around the island, complimentary wine, fruits and birthday cake. We were also greeted every morning at breakfast to make sure we had everything we needed. The pool area is gorgeous.

Some points for improvement - breakfast could use some hot made to order omelettes or pancakes. The hotel also charges 25 euros for a transfer from the airport or port which is too much. The hotel is a short walk from the city center which is great for the day time. But at night the incomplete sidewalk and lack of streetlights makes it dark/shady. Also wouldn't pay extra for the "private" pool.

You can hear everything! On one side, the people at the pool/pool bar. On the other side, people coming back late at night.
If you have anyone with kids above you (like us), you are screwed. No sleeping for us...

Hotel is geared towards British guests - noticeable by the massive amount of greasy meat for breakfast...

Staff is friendly - which doesn't help with the noise issue.
