“The Wineryhouse is enchanting.”

The Wineryhouse is as enchanting as the photos suggest. It is located in the quaint village of Finikia, which has one of the best tavernas that we encountered in Santorini. The house is within walking distance of Oia and far enough away to enjoy a quiet sunset on the roof of Wineryhouse or a pleasant morning in the courtyard. Down the road is the Sigalas Winery, which is a much more intimate experience than the larger Santos and Boutari wineries. A little further down the road is Kolombus Beach, which takes a little effort to find, but is well worth it, especially if you enjoy privacy.

Wineryhouse's owners, Eleni and Costa are perfect hosts. Prior to our arrival, they made reservations for us at restaurants and offered to arrange a rental car, as well as pick us up at the airport. Upon our arrival, they greeted us with Vinsanto, pickled caper leaves and sun-dried tomatoes that Eleni made herself. On the morning of our anniversary, we awoke to find a very nice bottle of white wine and celebratory wishes. During our stay, they also negotiated and made phone calls for us, provided us with written recommendations and engaged us with lively conversation. Honestly it is hard to say enough good things about Eleni and Costa who shared their kindness and knowledge like old friends.

While we moved to another location in Santorini during our trip to stay on the caldera, our other lodging failed to capture the charm and magic of Wineryhouse, which looking back, had to include the daily interactions with its owners, making coffee for early morning drinking in the courtyard, and late afternoon naps in the hammocks under the grape vines.

I highly recommend this holiday rental. If you have a car, there is no reason to stay anywhere else. You can settle in here, stock well-equipped the kitchen with necessities including delicious and affordable local wines from the nearby market, and enjoy a relaxing stay..

Liked best: The feeling of community in the traditional settlement.
Liked least: Placing too much value in the caldera view and not staying at Wineryhouse for the entirety of our vacation.

“Serenity”

We had the most wonderful holiday whilst staying at the Winery House in July 2013. The house itself is a wonderful space, truly beautiful. It had everything we needed and was immaculate. We shall defiantly recommend it to friends and hopefully go back one day. The photos don't do it justice.

Lena &Costa have become our friends and were a wealth of knowledge. They made the holiday even more enjoyable with their advice on trips and things to do.

We were worried that having booked two weeks our teenagers especially would get bored. Not at all! We had a few days of total recharge whilst reading in the wonderful garden, complete with small pool for cooling off and hammocks. We then explored this lovely island and its beaches. We would recommend Ancient Thera, Akrotiri, swimming in Amoudi Bay, A Catamaran trip and a trip to Thirassia. I could go on.

Whist we hired a car for a while the transport system was great and runs until very late, so a night out in Fira and a glass or two is easy.

We feel very lucky that we were able to spend so long here when most people usually come for just a few days. We really feel as though we know Santorini and found some hidden gems that we would never have found in a few days. We were able to go to Oia when it wasn't so busy and the sunset from the house itself is impressive enough. The teenagers were pleased when they found out there was WiFi but only used it for an hour a day.

Santorini has left a lasting impression on us all. Go and enjoy the good things in life! Our daughter wrote a poem whist she was there and called it Serenity. Says it all.

“Fabulous renovated old winery in quite pedestrian only area”

Stylishly renovated old winery, in a pedestrian only area of Finikia, which is a short walk from Oia. The house is very spacious, and has an excellent kitchen. We arrived at the house with donkeys carrying our luggage, and were welcomed by the hosts with a glass of wine and home dried tomatoes in the lovely courtyard.

“Winery House is a magical house in an extraordinary village, owned by exceptional people.”

My husband and I, along with our three children (two teenagers and a 10 year old) spent five days at Winery House. Our stay was everything we hoped for and more. The location is fabulous. We loved the peace that comes with no cars in the village. Finikia is like traveling back in time to a bygone era, but with the modern luxuries of Winery House. Being a short walk to Oia was perfect. We were close enough to enjoy the best parts of Oia, without staying amidst the hustle and bustle. Elani and Kostas are magnificent hosts. They struck just the right balance between sharing information, friendly visits, and giving us space in their beautiful home. They are extraordinarily knowledgeable of the island, everything from historical information, to the best beaches, wineries, restaurants, music, etc. They kindly assisted us with arrangements for transportation from the airport, a rental car, and a private boat. Elani has done an exceptional job renovating Winery House. She has truly created a gem from a diamond in the rough. We loved the modern, clean lines of the home with the mix of antiques original to the home's days as a winery. The kids loved the hammocks, plunging pool, terrace, and freedom to move about the space. Five days was definitely not long enough! We hope to get back to Santorini. When we do, we will definitely revisit Wintery House! It is a very special place.
