Great place to stay in middle of town

Stayed a couple of nights, and were very comfortable for our stay. The people working there were the nicest, and most helpful we’ve come in contact with. Room was a little small, it has great air con, well appointed bathroom. Restaurant in hotel was more than adequate for a couple of nights. We seemed to be only tourists, and the staff took us under their respective wings. It’s right in the middle of town and central market area. Felt very safe walking around, not for the novice traveler. They also can arrange excursions to some of the surrounding “sights”. Prices are way below comparable hotels elsewhere. Not sure where else tourists would stay, other options a bit dreary.

Very clean and centrally located

I liked my stay in this hotel. My room was large, spotlessly clean, cool and quiet. The reception staff were very friendly and accommodating. My airport pick up worked seamlessly too. The wifi connection is fast and reliable. I was expecting something basic but the Damal does "basic" well.

In addition, i liked the hotel's location right by the Mig monument so in the evening i could watch the world go by.

Very few tourists here.

Stayed in this hotel on two separate occasions. Once 5th floor, once 6th. Wonderfully central with a good view of the civil war memorial next to the building on the east side. The hotel forms the top three or four floors of one of the tallest buildings in Hargesia . All the staff seem to do their best.

Room tip: Allare very quiet. Hargesia is quiet by night !

Depends maybe on the room you get

Been in this 2 times for each one night.
The first time, I wasn`t satisfied by the bathroom at all. The toilet seat was missing and there was still poo in the toilet!?
In the shower were a lot of bird feathers. Looked it was not cleaned for weeks.
The bedroom on itself was very nice and the bed comfortable.
Wifi worked fine.

On my 2nd stay I had a different room and the bathroom was clean, just how it should be.

Breakfast doesn`t offer too much western choices. Eggs, beans, injera, tibs (beef/liver). Staff is attentive and nicely talkative. For lunch or dinner there are enough choices: soups, pasta, pizza, meat dishes (camel burger).

There is a bank in the same complex of the hotel and some shops like supermarket and airline offices.

The hotel is situated right in the center, step out and you can walk through the market.

Good restaurants in walking distance, like e.g. two Ethiopian restaurants and a fish and steak restaurant.
