This is not a 5 star hotel. We paid 275 EUR per night, and 440 EUR per night for a 4 star hotel in La Digue (Domaine Orangeraie), and the difference is like heaven and hell.
The room was small and not clean. Sheets were dirty(!). Water dripping (from air con probably), making the floor permanently wet. We probably got one of the worse rooms, ground floor, garden (instead of a balcony) separated from neighbours by some bushes which gives hardly any privacy. No option to change the room when we asked for it. Bathroom door is so flimsy it's uncomfortable. Room is very small - I am guessing that we got one third of the space that you get at this other hotel I mentioned. View was overlooking other bungalows, hardly the kind of idyllic ocean-front or lush gardens view that you can get at some other places.

Then there is the beach. Probably the biggest disappointment. Yes it's long, but other than that it's nothing compared to not only some of the nice beaches in Seychelles (like Source d'Argent) but also compared to pretty much any nice beach in the Carribean, Thailand, etc. It's not fine, white sand - it's yellow. Full of people, on a Sunday evening there must have been hundreds of locals partying, playing loud music, walking their dogs etc at the beach. Hardly any palm trees, just leafy trees that leave the whole beach littered with leaves. And the cafes - almost twice as expensive as on La Digue!

I personally think that chain hotels like Le Meridien will just never deliver the kind of unique experience that independent hotels would. You just dont get the sort of personal touch that would make the place special. It's a big chain, they know exactly which checkboxes to tick to get the 4, 5 (whatever) star ranking, and they will do that, but nothing more. They will stuff as many rooms as possible into the space, and then rely on package tour operators to fill the occupancy with people who probably wouldn't want to do their own research on Tripadvisor, or book things independently, and therefore cannot really get the sort of value for money that some of the smaller places can give you. While at Le Meridien, I never felt like anyone made any special effort to make the stay pleasant, you get the minimum you would expect for this money (in fact, probably less than that!), nothing extra. It's a factory for package holidays, and even remembering that the quality isn't good. Avoid.

we stayed in a classic suite for 2 days ..

regardless the long check in which took from us 2 hours , the reception was much helpful and they tried their bestt to serve us .. the room was spacious but not well decorated and the view was good ... the bed was so comfortable which made me sleep from 2 p.m till 6 a.m without any interruption

the breakfast wasn't filled with many essential things but overall good

thank you every one especially Rondolph and Rowdy

We enjoyed about 5 days at this hotel and very much enjoyed our stay. The area around the pool is very relaxing with a wonderful beach just steps away. The staff at the hotel were wonderful and never hesitated to help make your stay a perfect one. We would definitly recommend staying here as we met people during our stay from other hotels and no one had the same experience with their hotels as we did. The conceirege Jonathan well go above and beyond to help make it a wonderful stay for you.

We were in June for 6 days. We could tale a decent shower only in the first day. Imagine you can't flush the toilet for 2 days. We ordered food at room service because there is NO LUNCH, they don't "know" this meal of the day. They advised us to go eat peanuts on bar lol for lunch. The room service food was so bad we refuse it, to salty, burned, impossible to eat and we were pretty hungry. The beach stinks, the don't clean the weed. They don't have enough towels for the guests. They runned out of big towels so we received after waiting for 30 minutes 2 short towels on the pool but they only covered 50% of the chair and imagine that chair is HOT. (this happen twice). All employes are lazy, I've ended waiting for a drink and never come a lot of times. The food at the restaurant is decent but you get same breakfast every day, very poor breakfast... just go else were.
If you are a smoker, prepare to be "amazed" in Saychelles, you may not get a smoke in open air on this place. When you see how weird the law is here ...

Dear ApStefan,

Thank you for your feedback. As you are aware, the situation of serious drought has had a strong impact on water supply for everyone in Seychelles. At Le Méridien Fisherman’s Cove, we are taking measures to provide our guests a maximum of comfort, and this includes water services, however, I can understand that some occasional shortage of water may have affected you and our laundry services. I am sincerely sorry for this situation.

As far as the meals and the cigarette tolerance are concerned, your comments do not seem to reflect the reality of our resort and the existing law on tobacco as we do offer a la carte meal service as well as smoking area.

Thank you for your comments and please let us know if you would like any other information,

Best regards
Le Meridien Fisherman's Cove

I stayed on a 4 day business trip and was pleasantly suprised. On time airport collection and very friendly drivers, very easy check in (although the half day charge was more than my full night rate) and complimentary breakfast was offered whilst I waited for the room to be ready. Room was clean and spacious and pre-airconned. Internet access was expensive if used in the room but was free in the lobby. Food was much better than expected especially in the signature restaurant. Alcohol is expensive (same as anywhere in Seychelles) but they have a good choice. Service was much better than usual and I think the new GM is making his mark. As the Seychelles are in a drought, water pressure is a bit low especially during the day, but this is understandable. The rooms are showing a small bit of age and wear, but still present very good value. The pool was highly chlorinated but in an awesome setting, and the gym was sufficient if a bit small. The boat house was quite laid back and it is a bit of a pain to fetch your own kayak and carry it across the garden before you get to the beach, but the location and close in reef make up for any effort.
Check out was done late at night and was very well handled - quick and efficient. If you get a chance go fishing with Jerry, really looks after his customers.
When booking, my agent normally does hotels but due to the high price I went on line and checked myself. I managed a rate of $250 per night vs the 495 quoted. Do some research and you should be able to save.

Room Tip: Book on line and save!!
