A friendly and homely Quinta in the mountains. Easy to relax here. Such lovely smiley staff always willing to help. The owner had lots of suggestions for walks and how to spend our time here. The food was plentiful and interesting. Some parts of the building are looking a little tired otherwise it would have been top star rating.

This is a hotel to steer clear of - no welcome at checkin - ‘voucher’ was the only word spoken to us. Reception and the only sofa was locked most of the time. Food was cold and over cooked with limited choice. The cooks were dressed in hoodies, other guests eating in padded jackets while the huge fireplace was unlit. No breakfast provided on our last morning. The attached picture of the public sitting area should be viewed! There is a very similar review from another contributor in March 2019 and we obviously had very similar experiences.
Comfortable en-suite room, with its own balcony with the most amazing views. Good breakfast and dinner. The proprietor has good English and is happy to advise on local walks and other sights. The hotel has copies for sale of the excellent Kartenverlag hiking map of Santiago in case you haven't already bought one; there are several good walks that you can do starting from the hotel. Recommended!
The hotel is about half an hour from the airport and if you arrive, as we did, in the dark, then the view comes as a lovely surprise in the morning. The rooms are simple but very clean. There wasn’t a hairdryer but one was quickly provided by the reception when I asked. The food is a buffet for both breakfast and dinner and was perfectly tasty. The staff were all great and helpful. We didn’t have a car and so spent the day gently wandering around the area to see some outstanding scenery. It is very quiet & peaceful and so excellent for getting away from it all. I left my kindle behind in the room and phoned from the airport to see if it had been found - the owner went to great lengths to personally see that I got it back. Recommend highly for a recharging of batteries.
We really enjoyed our stay here and if you accept that this hotel is up a mountain with all the issues that entails than you too can have a good stay. No the WIFI isn't brill but you can get it, which I thought was brill. The food is buffet style and you do have to ensure you get there at the start of service if you want to ensure you get soup before its gone but again I accept a hotel like this can't afford any waste. The owner is lovely and entertained us with his guitar 2 nights. The views are fantastic and we took advantage of all the terraces which you do have to move around to keep in the sun and out of the breeze. We did some local walks and some organised longer treks - (if you are not into walking then you may struggle to find things to do up at this hotel) Room are small but more than adequate and the quality of sleep is fantastic with so little noise. I would not hesitate to stay there again if I was on Santiago.
Apart from its astonishing location,On the top on Monte Tchota mountain, the quality of the service and live music of the best capeverdean artists ... They still present the best buffet of the island...
