It would be easy to moan about the towels, linen, basic room, terrible buffet food and service levels if this resort was in Europe and to expect European levels of 5* service.
The resort is massive and is in fact three hotels in one. The Sol Hotel is aimed at families and bargin travellers, the Dunas is a "couples friendly" up market hotel, the Level is an " exclusive" luxury branded hotel.
The issue is that that they are all on the same site, the three different hotels do not fit well from any of the customers point of view as they want different things from their holiday. Most of the facilities are shared which means that couples get no peace from families and kids that use the pools, even though the Sol Hotel has its own pools.
Book the Ala Carte restaurants if staying at the Dunas the buffet is dire, unfortunately if you are staying at the Sol you will have to pay to use them.
The most important thing about your trip is to understand that Cape Verde is an poverty stricken island group 350 miles of the coast of Africa where millions go hungry each day and died from preventable diseases each year.
