Dinner was great. Everything we expected from a 5* restaurant. Service is top notch, location can't be beat, the chef knows how to put a tasting menu together - everything was spectacular. The wine list had many interesting options, and the sommelier was great. We loved that you can make substitutions to the tasting menu, which is normally unheard of. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner. It's expensive, but we felt it was worth the high price.

We were so pleased we went back for dinner a second night over the labor day weekend. Service and food was consistently good, the staff not only remembered us but also our orders from our previous dinner. If possible get a table outside and go earlier enough to enjoy the views and tour the main building.
This is not a place to go if you are on a budget, it is an experience. With a nice bottle of wine you are looking at New York City prices. If you want to just enjoy the experience, the bar menu might be a more affordable option.

The food was inconsistent and poorly executed. This will be memorable in the fact it was so poor.

We recently stayed at Lake Placid Lodge for a few nights and were lucky enough to get a reservation at Artisans for dinner twice. The atmosphere is stellar, outside under the stars is like nothing you've ever experienced. We had heat lamps by our side and gorgeous hand made throws that are given out upon arrival. The meal was great- an unusual menu and very in tune with the feel of the Lodge itself. Choices include multiple fresh catch fish dishes, delicious beef, lamb and rabbit, home made soups and breads, the freshest of vegetables, and desserts that I was happy to hike an extra hour to make up for. We tried a few and they were well worth it! The service was good, the wait staff friendly and helpful. Everyone was more than willing to give you a few pointers on how to make your time in the Adirondacks unforgettable. All in all you can't top this experience. Its a one-of-a-kind lunch or dinner and something you will keep in your memory bank forever.

We had a wonderful experience here. Our GPS had us a bit off track, but we were guided by a helpful desk staff member. We were warmly greeted, and were given a lovely table. Our servers were professional, friendly and helpful. Based on talking with them, we decided to have the tasting menu with wine pairings. I am a vegetarian, and the chef prepared vegetarian courses for me. The setting is beyond beautiful. We hope to return sometime soon for a stay and more memorable meals.
