Our room was quite large and decorated in the traditional Ethiopian style with twin four-poster beds that had curtains around them that you can close at night. Think they also double as mosquito nets. Due to the location on the shore of the lake, there are a lot of mosquitoes. I used a good insect repellent with 50% deet and luckily didn't get bitten. The room also had a big walk in shower and separate toilet. There was a hairdryer next to the sink but it had a three pin plug and the socket was a two pin. Rather odd. The coffee machine (that there was no coffee for) had a three pin socket so we had to stand in a dark corner of the room with a small make up mirror to dry our hair. Our room was quite close to the main road so it was quite noisy with traffic and the general hustle and bustle. Also got woken up at 5am with the call to prayer. The restaurant was very nice and decorated in the same style as the rooms. There was a good choice on the menu and the food was very good once you got it. It seemed to take an age for them to bring the starter and was the same with the main course and dessert. Breakfast was average and not a lot of choice on the buffet for the western palate. The hotel also has a swimming pool and spa. We could have had a complimentary massage but didn't have the time. Most of the staff were friendly. Just needs a bit of work re the service in the restaurant and they definitely need to sort out the sockets and plugs in the room.

The lodge is well located on the shore of Tana Lake , with a private boat docking.
The rooms are in a typical tukul and we had an upstairs room with a very large terrace overlooking the lake and provided with a big sofa –bed- table and chairs –and a chimney
The interior of the room has a special atmosphere and it is furbished with typical Ethiopian furniture . It is very spacious with a tea-corner , a wardrobe a desk with a chair and a poster bed with mosquito net .
the shower is very large and the toilet is separated .
The restaurant offers a good choice of food and breakfast is buffet but I would say that the quality is average.
They serve a complimentary aperitif during sunset on the lodge terrace which we appreciated sitting at the cool breeze of the evening.
There is a large swimming pool with deckchairs and straw beach umbrella-
They offered us complimentary massages but unfortunatlely we couldn’t take advantage of them because we had no time .
we had a late check in but we had to pay a lot of money for day use.

My daughter and I stayed one night. The location is great, the rooms nice, showers great, the views stunning and the spa wonderful. However, for the price you want a little more.
-toiletries (we forgot lotion, would have expected that could be provided)
-zero flexibility on late checkout (pay half the rate)
-recommended tour guides crazy overpriced (quoted 2400 birr for a niles falls excursion that others charged 300 for)
-poor mosquito management (they aren't using treated nets and they don't really close the nets they use so there was a mosquito in the bed and my daughter was eaten alive at night - not good for a malaria endemic location)
-food was not great (although my fish was really good!)

If the price wasn't so high comparatively, I think I would have really enjoyed the place but expectations weren't quite met

We really enjoyed our long week-end at the Kuriftu. Staff was helpful and the room very comfortable.
I preferred the rooms on the first level as you get a nice view on the lake.
Service at the restaurant can take a very long time!

Room is spacious and traditional. 40min swedish massage and 30min foot massage were included to room rate and the massage was really great. The only downside was that wifi wasn't working in rooms. only in public area.
