We were so excited to go on a trail ride on our vacation in Lake George. We are a family of four. My husband and I, our 14 yr. old daughter and our 10 year old son, whom happens to have Down Syndrome. Our son has been on horses to many times to count including "hippotherapy" and is probably more comfortable on a horse than an adult whose never ridden before. We had brought his bike helmet which the website said was suitable. Their answer was well if they encountered a deer and it spooked the horse they weren't sure how he would react. Well as his mother I can tell you he would react the same way a 6 year old would at the very least! (which is the youngest age for trail rides) Our son is high functioning and has alot of capabilities and we are well educated adults that would never consider this event if we thought we were putting our son in danger or he couldn't handle it. This was complete discrimination and I was glad we didn't give them our money anyways! Instead we went to the Xtreme Adventure course which turned out to be EXCELLENT for all ages and abilities and thank god there was not a sign of discrimination!
