The William Henry Miller Inn
Ranked #2 of 18 Ithaca B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 30 June 2004

I recently stayed at the William Henry Miller inn and could not have asked for a better experience. Lynnette, the inkeeper, is very warm, attentive and welcoming and has thought of every little detail to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. The house itself is magnificent and almost unchanged from its original design including magnificent woodwork and richly-colored stained-glass windows. The rooms are quiet, spacious and well-appointed and the location can't be beat. The house is steps from the Ithaca Commons and more intrepid souls can even make the hike on foot up (up, up, up) Buffalo Street to the Cornell campus. You're welcomed back each night with scrumptious homemade desserts and begin each day with a breakfast so hearty that my boyfriend and I never even ate lunch any day we were there! There is off-street parking, which is always a plus in a downtown area. I can't wait to return!

On a recent trip to visit a friend in Ithaca we stayed at the William Henry Miller Inn. In spite of the imposing name, it's not pretentious at all. Innkeeper Lynnette has thought of every little detail for her guests' comfort and enjoyment. Each evening she puts out a selection of delectable desserts on the buffet. And breakfast is a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. The rooms are spotlessly clean. The inn's location is perfect for a stroll downtown to the Commons, where excellent restaurants, bars and entertainment abound. We loved "Just a Taste" wine and tapas bar.

As we now have a son at Cornell, we knew we'd be visiting often. What good fortune, then, that we found the William Henry Miller Inn as early as we did! The building is beautiful, location great. Guest rooms are elegant yet simple -- luxurious linens and a feeling of understated luxury that make me want to stay longer. Love the evening dessert and varied breakfasts. Sitting on the porch on a warm evening is a treat.
Innkeepers and all of the staff are friendly and attentive. Why stay anywhere else? Now if only our younger boy would consider Cornell.....

Nothing but superlatives here! The house, designed by Cornell Uni's first achitecture student is positioned directly on the bus route to the university and one block walk past interesting antiquarian bookshops and coffee outlets from the main shopping street. Walking distance to most restaurants. If position was not enough, the accomodations are beautiful. The proprietor was helpful and disceet. The complimentary deserts made available of an evening in the dining room were delicious, and the full breakfast in the morning was lovely too. I recommend this house to anyone wanting to get the best out of a visit to this beautiful town.
