Gorgeous view, rooms are large and comfortable, villa is huge and beautifully decorated. All of this is what one would expect. What makes Santorini magnificent are the details: Beachbags and flipflops, picnic lunches, beautifully set private tables, excellent food, hospitality from entire staff, catering for whatever you need. Note that Santorini is on a hillside (hence the gorgeous views of the ocean) and that you need to walk down stairs (45 to be exact) to get to the beach. It is so worth it! Everything you need from cabanas to comfortable body-size bean-bag chairs. Water is warm and if you are a shell-collector, OMG! If Santorini were not so far from the west coast of the USA, we would be there a few times a year! Special thanks to Lucy, Norman and Sergio.

This might be hard to believe but the website understates Santorini. The villa we stayed in was stunning. We can’t think of any way of improving it. Details like the bath on a plinth so you lie at eye level to the sea view confirm how much thought has gone into Santorini. If we wanted to build a villa, this is exactly how we would build it. Spacious, luxurious, spotless, all mod cons, spectacular views, private, inside and outside eating areas, gorgeous infinity pool. Santorini has thought of everything. The villa is set up for the sunrise, facing east, you need to go to the main villa to catch sun later in the day.

Your villa host will be with you for as little or as long as you want. The service is both discrete and exceptional. Sergio deserves a special mention for how well he looked after our family of 5. The team at Santorini are always one step ahead of you, making sure everything you need is there before you. Even when you go on excursions, they know exactly when you will be back and your favourite drink will be waiting for you. At each meal, we found a brief message and often a drawing inscribed in the butter relating to what we were doing that day!

The food was also of a high standard. Your fridge will be stocked with inclusive wines, beers, soft drinks and spirits are on the shelves. You can entertain yourselves happily or your host will look after you. There is also a comprehensive wine list if you would like something different but we found the inclusive wines perfectly good.

The villa is set above the beach giving uninterrupted breathtaking views across to the
archipelago. You can watch the sun come up and you can watch the local fishermen and women taking in their nets. You won’t see many motor boats but you will see many dhows and rowing boats, such is the unspoiled beauty.

Although the villa is situated above the beach, it is only a very short walk down and
back. The staff will anticipate you going to the beach and will have beds and towels, and anything else you need waiting for you. We didn’t see one other tourist on the beach. Just local fishermen. The water is warm and shallow so excellent for a dip but don't expect to be snorkelling as it is sandy bottom all the way to the distant islands.

We did a few excursions. Santorini has a beautiful catamaran and we went for picnics on the deserted island beaches and we went snorkelling. April is a poor time of year for visibility. The end of the summer means a build up of plankton. We could probably see 10m, when in winter it improves to 25m. 2m reef is where everyone seems to go so it feels a bit busy, boats feel like they get too close to snorkellers and the reef looks like it has had a bit of rough treatment over the years. It is protected now so it should improve. I think it would be better if boats had to moor at the edge of the area, leaving the reef for snorkellers to enjoy. There was a good variety of fish so it was worth going but overall the snorkelling experience was average. It is also about an hour from the resort on a boat so snorkelling can only be done as part of an organised trip.

We also went fishing. We set out at 5.30am and because the fishing is beyond the reef, it is about an hour before you get the lines out. We trawled for over 7 hours before the line went tight and we had one tuna and one gall ? fish for our trip. There was excitement when we hooked a second tuna and it was taken by a shark never to be seen again! The sun is severe and there is a decent swell so this was really hard going and I am a keen fisherman! I haven’t worked out if the area is overfished or we were unlucky - information is hard to come by.

So thanks to all the team at Santorini, especially Norman & Lucy, Wynand and Heidi and Sergio. All fantastic hosts who absolutely go the extra mile to make your stay a memorable one. We would happily recommend Santorini to anyone looking to get away from it all in Mozambique. It is a very special place.

Room Tip: All stunning!

We were welcomed by the whole staff, drink and cold towel at the ready.
This small(10 rooms) hotel, situated on a beautiful beach is a little gem.
My room was lovely with a large sitting room ,a very comfortable four poster bed and beautiful ocean views.
The staff could not think of enough things to do to please us .We felt like lucky guests in a private home.
The food was delicious and the chef would accommodate any kinds of special requests.
It was hard leaving Santorini, we were so spoiled and felt as we were saying good bye to friends.

Room Tip: Upstairs bedroom.

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in South Africa and Mozambique and absolutely loved our time in Santorini. The hotel lends itself to romance and privacy. Our room was incredible with beautiful 180 degree views of the beach. And the staff went above and beyond with little gifts on our pillow every night as well as delicious chocolate.

The hotel has so many little nooks and crannies each with its own incredible view. This makes it easy to have privacy. For each meal your host sets up a table in a different area so that each dining experience is unique. We were lucky to have Calistro as our host. He was sweet and attentive and always added the extra touch. We loved his butter art and looked forward to his creativity at each meal. Neither my husband or I eat fish and Calistro and the chef were very accommodating.

As for activities we were looking forward to rest and relaxation after early mornings on safari and santorini definitely delivered. We went snorkeling at Maruque island one morning. Having also now snorkeled at two mile reef I would definitely recommend splurging to go to two mile reef. In my opinion the snorkeling there surpassed the great barrier reef and Hawaii. Following snorkeling our boat captains brought us to Pansy Island which was an incredible experience followed by a private castaway picnic. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience!

If you are looking for relaxation in a remote beautiful setting than Santorini is perfect!

My husband and I are fortunate enough to travel a lot, and I can honestly say that this was one of the best - if not THE best - hotel experiences we have ever had. The title of this post says it all - there is not one aspect of the stay that we would have changed. The service from the Santorini team is outstanding - attentive and tailored without ever being intrusive. It's hands down one of the most romantic hotels we've ever stayed in, but without any of the cliches. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

Room Tip: The main hotel is best for couples but the hotel offers villas on-site that are perfect for families
