It´s nice to have at least one swanky lounge in the area with pretty good food and nice ambiance. On a nice day, it´s great to sit outside and have a nice cold beer. Haven´t tried the cocktails here yet though - so not sure how good those are.

I cannot say enough about this restaurant.

Jade feels like Forest Hills itself: a complete NYC anomaly, being a stand-apart gem on the landscape. Nestled in a corner of the quaint Tudor-inspired station square, one walks through the doors and enters what feels like a complete downtown manhattan experience, with high ceilings and wide, expansive, comfortable dining space. The waitstaff is sweet, attentive and personable to a man; the menu is ecclectic pan-Asian, with japanese, thai and fusion cuisine to please every palate. The music, spun by a dj, is loud enough to add spirit and yet quiet enough to allow for intimate conversation.

Try the Tikka Flounder Skewer appetizers (always on the "specials" menu, though I've never NOT had it on any given night). Also delicious cold sesame noodles with enough to share. Their fish is supreme whether its broiled or grilled in one of their imaginitive cooked offerings, or raw in their many varieties of sushi and sashimi (in combos and a la carte). Their sushi rolls, both cooked and raw, are original and named after local streets and attractions by and large, though the must-have is the fully-loadeed "Kaiser Roll". Thai lovers rave about their Pad Thai being some of the best locally (and our town boasts half a dozen praise-worthy Thai restaurants). I've dined with several vegetarians (myself a recovering vegan) and have yet to see less than satisfied smiles and audible delight in their meatless fare, especially the vegetable curry and the green mango salad. For dessert, do not miss the chance to dive into a gooey lava cake -- offered in Chocolate, Bailey's, and Caramel Apple varieties (the latter being the hands-down winner by all who are forced to cast a vote at my urging). Each is accompanied by a specific ice cream but the servers are more than pleased to indulge your preference for a different cake-and-cream pairing.

Also noteworthy are a fine selection of teas served in cast-iron pots, as well as a variety of Sake in gourmet flavors, fine enough to be served cold instead of heated as their cheaper and less flavorful rice wine cousins typically are.

Do not miss this experience. For those in Manhattan, it is worth the 13 minute Long Island Rail Road trip. The beautifully maintained station is just across the red-bricked, Olmstead-designed street and square from Jade's white and glass-framed quadruple doors -- which are now open for dinner 7 days a week.
