This was our second camping visit. This is a small campground with only 39 sites. All have 30 Amp service. It's hard to pick a site. There are really no bad ones. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Sites have lush lawns with crushed stone pads - no mud here. Bath house - 1 for all 39 sites is clean and comfortable. The lake, hiking trails and the Hyde Hall mansion make this State Park a real winner.

This little park is gorgeous in upstate NY. Minutes from the heart of Cooperstown, I imagine this would be a great place to camp. However, I was just visiting for the day with friends. We swam in the lake which was nice but dirty -- seagull feathers all over the sand and an over-abundance of sea vegetation all along the bottom. Went up to the mansion but didn't want to pay $15 for a tour. Still a nice day, lots of parking available, not crowded.

There is more to see in Cooperstown, New York, that the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Glimmerglass State Park is a 593-acre state park located at 1527 County Highway 31 north of Cooperstown, in Otsego County, mostly within the town of Springfield. Located on Hyde Bay on the east shore of Otsego Lake, which is the "Glimmerglass" of author James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales, the park is open year-round and offers a beach, picnic tables with pavilions, a playground, a nature trail, recreation programs, hiking, biking, fishing, ice fishing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, tubing, snowmobiling, a campground with tent and trailer sites and a food concession. The Hyde Hall mansion overlooks the bay and most of the grounds. Otsego Lake is 7.8 miles long and offers 20.3 miles of shoreline. Lake trout, walleye and perch are the popular species for fishermen and the lake also supports an underfished smallmouth bass fishery. Take time to tour Hyde Hall, a beautiful 50-room country house. Hikers will enjoy the Sleeping Lion Trail, about 2.5 miles long, which is marked with orange paint blazes. It climbs relatively steeply through the hemlock forest and then levels out along the shoulder of Mount Wellington, on the eastern shore of Otsego Lake. In the winter, it is a good trail for snowshoeing.

Great area for young children! Beach area and two playgrounds within 100 yards will keep the kids Happy and therefore the parents excited to come back. Spend the day or camp overnight. Only $7 a carload.

I visited two times in six days while enjoying my son's baseball tournament. This park has something for everyone. Pack a large picnic basket and spend some time here. The walking trails near Clark Hall are perfect. What a magnificent park!
