My family and I recently traveled to Clayton to visit extended family in the area. Unfortunately, because of some serious health issues, we were limited with our choices of entertainment and venues. We booked the house at the Wooden Boat Inn and it was the perfect place for us to spend time together.

After learning about our situation, Kristy Hoover from Orion Art Studio and Gallery (located just down the road), was kind enough to give my family a private watercolor class. She brought all the materials to us and we set up right at the dining room table! We had an absolute blast. Kristy is an excellent teacher who made the time fun and entertaining. We learned new techniques, painted some awesome pictures, talked, laughed, and had a wonderful time.

I am so fortunate that we had a perfect place to stay and an awesome watercolor class to make our weekend so memorable. Additionally, my daughter accidentally left her favorite stuffed animal at the Wooden Boat Inn, and Pia (the owner) called to let us know. Between her and Kristy they overnighted the doll in the mail and got it safely home to us! I can't thank them enough for all they did for us!! Such great people who took the time to make sure our stay was the absolute best it could be!

Love, love, LOVE this place. The Wood Boat Inn is a magical boutique style motel in the middle of Clayton. The charm that is evident in each room is a reflection of the new owner’s vision to update and renovate. Every time I turned around, I discovered something new and unique. The courtyard is small but adorable with seating and picnic table. The little screened porch was the perfect spot to have a drink and relax last night before bed. While this is our last night here, it will not be our last. We will come and stay again. It is local and within walking distance to everything in town but especially the Antique Boat museum. The Wood Boat Brewery is just down the street as well. And although this is close to everything, it is quiet and relaxing and a great place to escape to and unwind. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Room tip: Each room has a different theme. The owner showed us through at a quiet time.

We loved our time here! Already talking about coming back with friends. We stayed in the green room and just loved the style! Not only did I love the design, the room was also spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We love the town of Clayton but have never found a place to stay that checks every box for us. Not anymore! The location is fantastic. Within walking distance of all our favorite food and drink spots. So happy with our trip. Just book it now! You won't be disappointed.

We had to come into Clayton for a funeral and did not have a lot of lead time to make advance reservations at one of the “big” resorts. When this hotel popped up as an option we booked it, since we needed a place to stay.

We were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful and inspired decor. Wireless chargers by both beds, electronic doors( no keys needed), wifi, and the most amazing decor. We stayed in the Bee Hive room and everything in the room was on point for the bed theme. Even a small bottle of locally sourced honey.

There is a nice gathering area outside for having a glass of wine and at night you can have a fire in the stone fire pit. There is also a nice screened in porch with games, coffee and snacks.

This location is close to the Antique Boat Museum and other local restaurants. You can easily walk to the downtown area.

The new owner should be proud that her hard work
has paid off. This location is worth looking into if you are visiting the Thousand Islands. We would stay here again and try one of the other themed rooms!

From the moment we arrived, we were delighted with the room, amenities, proximity to "downtown" and the delightful community area on the side of the inn. We will definitely return!!!! Thank you, Pia, for making this a great experience, not just a trip!
