The Loft is visually attractive when you enter the restaurant. The staff greet you as you enter. There are tables by the front window and on the wall adjacent to the bar. The actual loft is at the end of the room and accessible by stairs near the end of the bar.
There is an extensive martini menu with cleaver names. We had a Bleeker Street and a Wall Street which were great. The Wall Street was a traditional gin martini. Bleeker Street was vodka based with a splash of fruit juice of some kind. My wife liked it. I prefer my gin with olives.
There are both small and large plates on the menu. I saw several people with French fries so I tried the French Fries with 5 dipping sauces. The sauces were ok but the fries could have been crisper. Your mileage may vary. The wontons stuffed with pork were delicious. I really recommend the Wings. The wings are cooked whole, from tip to little drumstick. They are very crisp and arranged on the plate so they look like they are dancing. They were original and very tasty. We also liked the Risotto Du Jour. It contained little pieces of chicken and asparagus tips.
The Loft is a welcome addition to the restaurant scene downtown.
