New management took over about 2 years ago and it just hasn't been the same. What was the little engine that could (small kitchen and warm staff made intimate and personal experiences) is now the engine that just puffs smoke. They took a very local feeling bistro and tried to match it to the demographics of the area. Sometimes people with money who live out in horse country want a place they can let their hair down - this was lost on the new owners.

Great burger and fries; good Caesar salad too. A good place to go before the movies or if I just don't feel like cooking. Nothing special, but always good. Their French onion soup is such a treat in this miserable winter.

I went with a friend for lunch. We were not served any bread, while other diners were. We were not given water, even though we asked. We ordered different appetizers, but both had the crab cakes for our main. The price was $18. The server told us that we could have one or two crab cakes; we both opted for one. We would have been happy to share a plate, but no. Surprise, surprise, we were charged $18 each for 1/2 the food. They claim we were given more of there tasteless side salad (overdressed lettuce), but honestly had we known, we would have had two and taken one home. What a way to rip you off!!! Thai shrimp good, but at $14 for 8 small deep fried shrimp it wasn't worth it. Coffee bad (and lukewarm). Service blah.

We were in the area this past weekend and had lunch at Meetinghouse. The prices are big, even for fancy Bedford. The burger was $16.95 (without any side) fries were an additional $7.95 for sweet potato. Really? . I have no issue with food prices, as long as the food merits it. It did not. The service was really slow too and the place wasn't exactly jumping. They just seemed disinterested in the whole "service" thing, except when the time came to take my Amex card. The atmosphere is "plain" and small and is devoid of any character. Blah.

One of the rare disappointments in town, this place combines food that's nothing special with indifferent service and high cost. These make an unfortunate choice, if you decide to come here. We came several times, in order to see if this place worked better at a different time, on a different date, etc. It didn't matter.
