We stayed over on a Saturday night at a cost of $179 dollars for the night which was too much money for what we got. Room was clean and the view of the lake from lobby and outside porch was nice. However if you are wanting that nice quiet place to enjoy nature don't go on the weekend especially if there is a wedding as there was one the night we stayed.

The reception was held under our room so the noise from the music reverberated throught the walls into our room. That was bad enought but then a fight broke out about 11:00pm in the hall outside our room between a young couple who were drunk. The cursing, screaming, banging on doors was outrageous.

On my first call to the front desk I was told the parties left the hallway and went into their roomand all was okay. That was true but it was the room next to ours! The cursing and screaming continued until I called again to the front desk and threatened to call the police at which time the manager finally must have done something because after a while things got quiet and i think the people got their bags and went home.

I guess the fight was a mixed blessing because the music stopped and I suppose the reception came to an end. Who knows how long the hotel management would have allowed the music to continue if not for the fight!

If you go to this place during the week and pay a lot less than we paid you will probably be ok as I doubt there are any weddings during the week. If you go on a weekend be prepared for anything but a quiet peaceful stay in the woods and make sure you bring your earplugs and sleeping pills!

we stayed at the overlook lodge for 2 nights, the room itself was very clean, had all the amenities and generally all very good standard. stayed during weekday so paid around $70 per night, so in my opinion very good value.
used this a base to travel around hudson. also walked to the top of tower at the top of perkins memorial drive from the lodge. also staffs were very cheerful and helpful.

We stayed one night at Overlook Lodge prior to our upcoming wedding to be held there. My husband and I were thrilled. Our dog was welcome. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. The room was quiet (even though a wedding was in progress). Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was wonderful (I would add a toaster and breads, bagels then it would be perfect!) Our daughter's wedding is to be held there in two weeks and we feel confident and excited that we have chosen the right spot for a perfect weekend!

Friends from the UK booked and PREPAID their stay of several days with Travelocity.co.uk based on the good rate and charming appearance of the Bear Mountain Inn (Travelocity.com also links to that site). THIS IS A PACK OF LIES. When they arrived after driving from JFK late at night, they found the place bolted and shuttered and when they finally found someone out on the street were told it had been "closed for renovations' for FIVE YEARS. They weere redirected to the Overlook where the service was lousy, the room smelled bad and a party of drunken men arrived after midnight to occupy adjavent rooms in a "cabin" to which my friends had been assigned, continuing drunken noise followed by loud music, and when they knocked on the door found the occupant was dead asleep and they could not get in or find anyone to help. Then next morning the drunks started a ruckus at an early hour waking all the other guests. This is of course classic bait and switch but why has the glowing web site not been scratched from the internet given that no such place, in practical terms, exists and there is no sign of any re-opening of a new, really truly, Bear Mountain Inn? THIS IS A DISGRACE and Travelocity and any other service that accepts prepayment should be as angry as were my foreign visitors.

I apologize for any confusion regarding your reservation, the main building is closed for renovations. Currently all reservations made online are for Bear Mountain Inn’s Overlook Lodge or Stone Cottages located within 1 mile of the historic Inn.

so we booked this place for 1 night trough hotel.com to spend a day at the Woodbury outlet.we drove from Montreal to bear mountain ( which is about a 7 hours drive ) we got there around 9pm at night and there it was no light, only a big sign saying that the hotel was close for renovation.

when we came back to montreal, we call the Hotel.com customer service and were told that room was charged as a '' no show ''. The representive said that he spoke to the manager of the Bear mountain inn and was told hotel was never closed
we took pictures of the sign announcing the hotel being close for renovation.

hotel.com dont wanna be responsible for booking hotel that are closed
