Description: Next Door Kitchen & Bar shares a love and appreciation of using foods that are fresh, approachable and unique. We pride ourselves on using foods grown in our own garden located on Science Street in Ballston Spa. The site is soil quality tested, supplemented by organic products and composting materials and maintained by ND executive chef and owners. "It's wonderful to get the experience of growing the produce and items that are served to our patrons" states Chef Strom. Owners Matthew Hall and Chris Fignar are thrilled that produce will supplement or wholly source menu items during the summer months. Additionally, the team attempts to serve items grown from local farms and small production vendors. We seek to create dishes that are inspired by traditional comfort food with contemporary flair. The cuisine is unpretentious yet has depth and complexity. Chef Jeffrey Strom brings with him a unique blend of techniques and creativity that sets his food apart. The service is refined and friendly. Our servers are highly knowledgeable regarding the menu items, purveyors, wine list, craft beer selection and offerings of unique cocktails with boutique distill ingredients. Our wine and cocktail lists were created with small production, family owned and sustainable practices in mind. Our unique wine list is in keeping with our mission and offers a fresh approach to impeccable wines. Distilleries chosen reflect our high standards and are local when possible including those from Greenfield, NY and other small batch single pot distilled distilleries. Our craft draught beer selection is strictly New York sourced. Hall states that "with so many outstanding NY craft beers, it was a great opportunity to stay local and offer great craft beers that showcase NY breweries". ND offers only the highest quality products in a comfortable and eclectic atmosphere. We designed a space that is warm and inviting with copper accents, local oil paintings and custom crafted lighting with hand blow glasswork. The newly renovated dining room was designed using locally reclaimed barn wood and barn door pulled from locations in Brandt Lake and Ballston Spa, NY. The barn door was located on Middleline Road and had once been on a barn owned by Hezekiah Middlebrook ; one of the founders of Ballston Spa. Renovations of the restaurant were supported by local construction, glass blower, artisan painters and copper craftsman. The restaurant is a warm and inviting atmosphere with unique touches that make it a perfect neighborhood space to enjoy great food and company.

Wine selection is good. My husband and I sometimes just like to stop for a glass of wine at the bar. AsI said I love the Brussel sprouts and even my husband likes them and he doesn't like Brussel sprouts.

We had been wanting to check this place out for a little while so we finally stopped in on a sunday night. We had the fried chicken and a burger. The food was good but not the best we had ever had. We were more impressed with the decor of the restaurant which had a rustic feel. The waiter made suggestions about drinks and the menu which was helpful but think he may have been slightly disappointed with our final choices as we didn't order more expensive options. Still want to give it another try and see how their shrimp and grits are as well as their brussel sprouts.

Tight quarters and noisy. Limited menu with board specials. Pricey. Sauces were sodium laced and below par. Canned??? Seemed so. By the attitude of management, you would think you were in a fancy, upscale restaurant with excellent cuisine. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Our meals were disappointing and expensive.

Dined for second time at the Next Door Kitchen and loved everything about it again. Excellent vibe where you can dress up or down and feel comfortable. The menu has a nice variety and the beer and wine menu is expansive. The heirloom tomato and mozzerella with balsamic was the best we have had. Had a terrific rib eye steak with mushrooms and fresh corn topping. My wife had a fantastic shrimp dish that was just as good. Most dishes offer the choice of either a full or 1\2 portion which we appreciate. Peach crisp with great vanilla ice cream dessert and outstanding coffee were a perfect end to a perfect meal. Great service where we did not feel rushed both visits. Make reservations, it's a popular place. Try it you will love it.

Been following this place on Instagram for a while and we happened upon it while visiting on a dark racetrack day. Met the owner who was out watering the plants ( they have outdoor seating) and we struck up a conversation. We had tried getting into Osteria Danny for our 19 year anniversary dinner and could not, so we went here instead. So glad we did! Wow what a treat! Hubby had the lobster risotto, best he's ever had, and I had the brown butter Brussels sprouts with the duck salad. Both were sublime. Brussels sprouts were so good I could eat them every day. Duck was crispy and flavorful in the salad, which also featured cabbage and udon noodles. Cocktails were great as well and the bill was surprisingly low. Food alone was $55 and this was for top chef gourmet fare. We wanted to take our daughter there on the upcoming Friday and though they had limited availability, called me with an opening! Yay! We're going back tonight, I'm already drooling! This is a must if you're a foodie or even if not. Probably best place to eat in Saratoga Springs, NY. Short drive to ballston spa from the main part of Saratoga. Highly recommend.
