Marvellous camp. Lovely location looking out over the water - except for when the hippos started calling out at 03.30 in the morning. Our guide was Speedy - very knowledgeable. Able to track animals by their tracks, which meant that we saw the highlights before other visitors. We did the moroko trip, which was terrific - very beautiful - and the motor boat trip. My wife and I recently stayed at this camp and experienced some of our best safari sightings of our trip. Our guide Speedy was awesome and was the first guide we had that was consistently able to track animals (resulting in us being the first ones to observe certain animals). We stayed in several camps and Speedy was the best guide we had.
The camp is also very nice and the staff were very accommodating. For some reason we were placed in a family unit which was too large for just my wife and I, but the room was very spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent and staff were very attentive.

The annually flooded grasslands of the Okavango Delta surrounding Vumbura Plains are locally referred to as 'melapo' and offer good seasonal viewing of elephant, giraffe, impala, sable antelope, kudu, zebra, common waterbuck and reedbuck, tsessebe, wildebeest, red lechwe and Cape buffalo. Hippo and crocodile are common in the waterways. We are thrilled to see how much you enjoyed exploring this area with Speedy and hope you got many wonderful photos of all your sightings.

Just spent 3 nights at Vumbura south camp.
I can’t praise it enough. A beautiful camp, the food was lovely, and the staff so friendly and courteous. Nothing is too much trouble.
Thanks to Ron our guide who was amazing. Lions, leopards, cheetah with cubs, six hyenas who were very excited , and a honey badger! Along with all the elephants and antelopes.
The river cruise was just beautiful, as was the mokoro trip .
I would highly recommend a trip to the Delta. Wonderful

There is no better way of viewing game and exploring the Okavango than by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe). These excursions reveal the fascinating smaller creatures of the Delta including colourful frogs and lively waterbirds.

This was our final destination on our vacation across Namibia, Zambia and Botswana and boy did we save the best to last at this Wilderness Safaris Camp situated about 25km north of Mombo, in the neighbouring private reserve of 60,000 hectares within the Okavango Delta.
We stayed in the South Camp which has only 6 lodges (8 on the adjoining North Camp) and each lodge was privately fenced off and of a luxurious size with private decking, plunge pool, sun loungers and external seating area overlooking the floodplain.
The bed is huge (big enough to sleep 4!) with a work area, shower overlooking the plain (while there is an external shower too), plenty of electricity points, a same day laundry service and a well-stocked mini-bar. It is worth noting there is no WiFi or phone signal within the camp.
The main area has a lovely decking area with a fire pit all overlooking the plains. Meals can be taken outside or if windy/ colder inside with shutters closed. There is also a separate bar and seating area.
The food here is extremely delicious. All meals are of a good size and unlike some other camps the brunch doesn’t make you feel you won’t be able to eat ever again! All important given how regular you get offered food on safari!
Animals do roam free through the camp so expect a chorus of hippos serenading you to sleep through the night or elephants walking right by and in touching distance. Amazing!
The drives here offer a wide range of different landscapes and you can expect to see lions and leopards (we saw more leopards here than we have anywhere else across Africa or India), all other main mammals, birds etc. Our guide Nas was brilliant, especially for someone so young (as guides go!).
The mokoro rides are super-relaxing whilst the motorboat safari offers a completely different perspective of the delta.
However, as much as this camp is well decorated, adorned and situated what makes this stand out is the people. Everyone is so happy, positive, welcoming, chatty, polite and basically very friendly. They really make you feel special and for us this has easily been the best of the many camps we have stayed at. Thank you all and we will definitely return at some point.

The rooms at this camp are hands-down the most spectacular of all that I have stayed in on safari in Africa. The location and views are stunning and the shower in the rooms will leave you speechless. And I loved the privacy of its own outdoor living room with plunge pool. Although it was unseasonably cold while we staying there, so could not use the pool, that was not a problem since the room was so dreamy. The staff were the friendliest of all the camps I stayed at, and the food delicious. Our guide - "Nas" - was a lot of fun and extremely knowledgeable. This is definitely a camp I will come back to!

We stayed 3 nights in June 2018. We were fortunate to pick a relatively quiet time when there was only one other family at Vumbura South. As a result we got brilliant attention and the benefit of a private guide throughout our 3 days. As with other safaris we find that the quality of the guide really determines the success or otherwise of our trip. ST is an experienced guide and also someone with a great sense of humor and a sensitivity to what the guests might like. He was the highlight of our stay. Having said that the rest of the staff were also great. While some reviews highlight what seems to be some “stage managed” enthusiasm in the welcomes etc we found the staff to be genuine and lovely people to sit down around the fire or at any time and have a chat with. They are happy to share details about themselves and life in Botswana if you are interested. The accommodation is excellent. It is not brand new but it is in great condition and deliberately a little rustic. It fits its environment and we enjoyed it. The meals are very good quality and you are guaranteed to put on weight unless you can be super disciplined - but that would defeat the purpose of being there. There is no internet nor phone service so be prepared to relax and take a break from the world - it is worth it. The game drives were excellent and we saw plenty of game and a huge variety. It does not have the density of game of Sabi Sands but it is an entirely different environment and that is its beauty. It just means you travel a little further between sightings but then the experience is awesome - herds of elephants in the water or crossing water, prides of lions in the grasslands or walking through water - there is room much to describe. Seeing the variety of animals in the different environments is truly amazing. Having a guide who can explain the environment and the flaura and fauna makes for a great experience. Highly recommended experience.

ST has been working at Vumbura Plains for the past ten years where the magnificent views of the permanent flood plains and lagoons in and around camp attract a variety of birds species which is always a bonus for not only our guests but guides alike. “The landscape and scenery in Vumbura Plains is wonderful.
