The lodege offers all you expect from a good host: friendly service, good food, they take care about you. The tents are more that perfect and located so nicely and almost individually, no neighbors! The range of activities is great: The boat- and walking safaris where our highlites, highly recommended to do, as the rangers read your wishes from your eyes! Go there - experience Africa (;-)) !!!

Room Tip: Terrace, tents to life and the fireplace!!!

Taken to lodge for my birthday 28 July for 3 nights. Fabulous experience. Excellent service from the staff is cherry on top of a beautiful setting; good food; CLEAN, comfortable, luxurious tents. No lions but this certainly doesn't detract - buffalo, rhino, hippo, crocs, fish eagle - lots of interesting bird life. They have elephant but due to drought have currently crossed over to the adjacent reserve. Experience both safari drives and stunning safari on Lake Jozini. The only lodge I've been to - and been to lots- where they actually could take us on a bush walk - other places always advertise but always excuse as to why cannot be done ie qualified ranger on leave/sick etc. We tracked 3 leopard on foot during bush walk- they had been in our camp and seen by others there but not us- very exciting to follow experienced, rifle bearing, qualified ranger named Scott, although never got to see the elusive creatures. Tip- do it on the morning you have to endure the long car trip home (5.5 hrs from JHB - roads good just trucks that slow you down). Will definitely be going back.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at white elephant safari lodge in June. Service was excellent, especially Mike, our guide. It was our honeymoon and we got our own private corner with champagne. Food was fantastic, love the luxurious tent, bed was comfy. THe showers outdoor was a unique experience. Sunset and sunrise cruise was fabulous and we had sightings of rhinos, hippos, crocs.

However, it was extremely disappointing that given our first trip to Africa, we did not managed to view all Big 5, partly due to our misfortunes, but also lack of communication from the management in managing our expectations here. We knew from the start that there was no lions in the safari lodge, however, I feel that they could tell us that the elephants have migrated across the bank to the opposite side due to drought, the cheetahs was killed by the hyenas a few months back. We managed to see only the giraffes for the big 5 here as the leopards was too shy. We would have booked more nights for our other private lodges to see better sightings of the big 5 if this was communicated.

Room Tip: ask for the honeymoon suite

Dear Adelweiss,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. Sorry that you were not able to see all of the big 5 both at our lodge and the other safari destination, unfortunately in the drier months the animals do tend to move around a lot more. We hope to be able to host you again in the future.

Warm White Elephant regards
Stephanie
