- Everyday dinner under pristine unpolluted dark skies. I had never realized there were so many stars visible to the naked eye.
- A cook assigned to you cooking you special meals just because you are the only vegetarian couple in the group of (totally 3 couples). So, it's very private
- A pride of lions an arms' length away from my wife. A fully grown male getting up to "yawn" 2 feet away with no barricades. And that's when you are shocked into realizing how big these cats truly are
- The "chase" - where Shemrack and Tiani - our tour guides tirelessly tracked a break away sub adult group of lions - ending with our land rovers precariously hanging over the edge of a cliff - nothing seemingly stopped them - either the terrain or the craftiness of the animals
- The "Hunt" - where 2 on the verge of adulthood male lions and a female tried to bring down a water buck - until the males screwed it up, as they always do :-)
- The sight of the Rhino spraying his territory and reinforce his supremacy
- The "death stare" of the leopard staring back at you. Gives me the shivers even now thinking about it
- The walk into the deep bush, identifying animals from their paw prints and from their droppings
- The Hippos warning us NOT to get any closer to their turf by all facing us almost like battleships in formation

And then the hospitality, the welcome, the facilities, the native African dance during dinners, the amazing tales of Shemrack and his experiences. Don't forget to ask him about the time a lioness charged him head on and leapt for his head.

AMAZING ONCE in a LIFETIME experience! We would go back in a heart beat!

Located deep in the Timbavati Game Reserve, a gem for sure. It is a private affair, you are not bombarded by other guests!! There is enough room for everyone to move and have quiet time and well deserved rest. Food outstanding, lunch, buffet style and never the same. The dessert is always a surprise. Dinner was great and the chef is accommodating so no need to think you will leave any meal hungry. We had dinner with our guide a few times and Richard is a great host!!
Two game drives a day, with Richard and Jackie as our guides, the best!! A laugh a minute, both of them are well informed and well educated in their field.
The rooms were great, even though the weather (long awaited rains came during our stay) played havoc with the power supply, all was good!!
I can recommend a visit to the African bush and for sure Motswari!! From the reception to the room, to the food, to the personnel at Motswari all ambassadors not only to Newmarket but also to Africa. Thanks again and will see you again.

Room tip: All rooms are good!!

I actually visited Motswari in January 2016 but had forgotten to leave a review. I have been going through my old pictures and remembered what an amazing time we had so wanted to help others if they were stuck with where to go. Motswari was quite simply one of the best decisions we made- we saw the big 5 and so much more in our 8 drives but what made the experience was Chad and Difference. Our drives were entertaining and fun and both guides were so knowledgeable about all the different animals. The resort itself couldn't be faulted- the food was amazing and we were never hungry. We honestly received 5* service from all members of staff and didn't want to leave. What was brilliant as well was that it never felt like we were being disrespectful to the animals- our guides took real care not to crowd the animals and the respect they had for their surroundings was amazing. I would recommend Motswari 10 times over and hope we will be back one day.

My wife and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at Motswari. We have safari'd in other parts of Africa and Sri Lanka; this trip topped the lot in terms of the whole package. The lodge was idyllic. The room, or bungalow, was superb, not flashy but extremely comfortable and beautifully maintained. Every time we came back from safari it seemed Sarah had tidied up after us. Very spoiling.

The food was first class. Excellent breakfasts (thank you to for serving fresh egg dishes even when we were 45 minutes late from one morning safari) and delicious lunches and dinners. One evening, Roxanne laid on a really lovely wine tasting for the guests centred around a sumptuous meal. Every night we ate at a different venue which made the whole thing better and better.

The most special mention goes to our fantastic guide, Brad, and the lovely Petros, our intrepid tracker. We spent more than 30 hours driving with them over the 5 days and it felt like no time at all. We saw everything, from leopards protecting their kill and "romantic" bull elephants to porcupine and chameleon at night. Brad was not just a limitless fount of information about the fauna and the flora, he was also a brilliant host both on the safaris and at dinner. He made the trip for us with his clear love of the animals combined with huge enthusiasm, energy and the best sense of humour.

Thank you to EVERYONE at Motswari. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

An amazing place and amazing people. I saw so many animals and plants with a knowledgeable and very likeable guide (2 game drives a day)! And the service at Geiger's Camp, a small outpost of the lodge, is outstanding: good food, good drink and vast well-equipped rooms.

Room tip: Geiger's Camp: lovely view, lovely staff. And the food is excellent.
