My wife and I had a three-night package in late July 2016. We were picked up at the local airport by Albert, our ranger, who turned out to be a most professional guide for our stay. After a 30-minute drive (during which we saw our first giraffe!) we arrived at the camp and were quickly shown to our room. We were, frankly, surprised at how good the room was. Large comfortable bed, walk-in shower and good Wi-Fi. Our first day-and-a-half were quite warm for mid-winter, and we were able to sit out on the pool deck around lunchtime (we didn't go in but others did). While sitting there we saw elephants, giraffes and hippos around the nearby pond, all this even before we went out on our first game drive. The camp has a lounge with bar, dining area, library and shop, all very pleasantly furnished. We went on our first game drive in late afternoon. Fortunately we took along sweaters even though it was short-sleeves weather when we departed. It doesn't take long to cool off once the sun sets. Our vehicle was a Toyota Land Cruiser, modified to provide three rows of open-seating. In my opinion, this was a perfect vehicle for observing game. We were well-looked after by our ranger Albert and tracker, Ishmael. They had blankets for us if we needed them, and mid-drive refreshments. Over the six game drives we had, we saw all of the "Big Six" plus many other species. High points: watching five lionesses stalk a prey, walking very close to our open vehicle; a male lion calmly walking in front of our vehicle, then pausing to look us over; two rhinos lumbering towards our vehicle, then turning away at a few softly-spoken words from our ranger; a leopard with her kill (we would never have seen her without the diligent tracking by Albert and Ishmael). The best of all - being next to a herd of two-dozen elephants, stomping through the bush, all sizes from a big bull to a four-week-old baby (our ranger knew that). On top of all that, there were the meals. Always a choice, including made-to-order omelettes for breakfast, and dinners in the outdoor boma area with open fires and entertainment by the staff. Altogether a wonderful experience!

Room tip: Ours was a regular room, but there are deluxe rooms which might be worth investigating for longer stays or special occasions.

My husband and I decided to go to Kapama Southern Camp for our honeymoon. The staff was pleasant, humble, and professional. Everyone that worked there made us feel at home. Okey and Joseph were our Safari guides. They made each safari outing unique and fun. Both were very knowledgeable. Lebo helped us organize everything weeks before getting there and during our stay. She was so nice and helpful. Sam and Mildred took care of us everyday. We gave Sam a big hug before leaving. This will sum up Kapama Southern Camp for you if your debating on where to go. When we left I cried my eyes out. I did not want to leave. I told my husband could we cancel the rest of our honeymoon to stay there. I didn't want to leave Sam and Okey and the group of lovely individuals we were set up with during our safari. This was by far a trip of a lifetime. Thank you Kapama for your hospitality. We sincerely appreciate everything.

We were lucky and saw all the big 5, but you need to know ahead of time that this is a closed fenced in reserve. Game was limited due to size of reserve and not being open to Kruger. Staff was great. Food was great and lodge was nice.

Spent 3 days/4 nights. Beautiful grounds, excellent service. The trackers and rangers are knowledgeable and guarantee and wonderful safari experience. The food is great and plentiful. We were there in early September, when the weather was cool in the morning and evening, warm midday. Bring warm clothes for the early morning and late evening drives, as it can get cool. But worry not, for they provide blankets and hot water bottles for all passengers! There's also morning snacks and evening drinks on all drives. Too, too civilized...but great fun. They also provide insect spray for you, and for the room. Pretty much think of everything.

Visited the game lodge with a group of 22 and it was beautiful. Beautiful surroundings, great staff that made it a wonderful stay.

*However the kiddies menu needs more attention as most of the kids had to eat from the buffet due to the kiddies food being cold or not appetising.
