After an exciting drive we ended in Paradise. We received a very warm welcome in a beautiful lodge and garden at the olifant's river. For every problem, if any, the owners came with a solution. The food was excellent. We had a great time and hopefully we are able to go back one day! Thanks a lot Sander & Kim. xxx

We can highly recommend the lodge: beautiful view, awesome hosts and delicious food! You are directly in the Bush which is really nice as you might see some animals in the garden!

Rooms are really nice and clean as well!

The 2 nights we spent in Kurhula Lodge were delicious. Sanders and Kim are very nice hosts, the view on the river is amazing with elephants and girafes walking and eating around. Meals were also very good and we loved spending time in the reserve and near the pool.

Kurhula Wildlife Lodge was our favourite Lodge in the Kruger Park area.
The hosts, Kim and Sander, are very nice and helpful people. The rooms are clean, larger than they look on the pictures, and have a terrace with a great view of the Olifants River. You see a lot of animals just by hanging out in the lodge area, but we can also recommend the game drives with Sander. The food was great and the staff always friendly. The drive to the lodge took us around 30-40 minutes from the gate, and we would recommend a 4-2 oder 4-4 wheel drive for comfort, even though it is probably doable in every car.

We stayed here for 4 nights. It is a beautiful lodge with 4 rooms situated on the banks of the river. The hosts Kim and Sander are as best of the hosts as you are ever going to get. They are extremely helpful. we decided to drive there from Johannesburg airport, Sanders provided directions to get there which came in very handy.

The place is located inside parsons nature reserve. Its a 5 and half to six hour drive from Johannesburg airport. If you decide to drive then take highway N1. Its three lane highway unlike N4 which takes you through some inner single lane roads which can be very frustrating when stuck behind a slow truck. Have a lot of patience when you drive as you need it the most when you reach the gate of the reserve. The last 45 min is extremely uneven road with rocks all over it. The top speed you can achieve is 20 km/hr. If you are driving then get there by 6pm. To do that you must leave by 12pm. Plan your arrival accordingly, i don't recommend driving in dark.

Should you drive?
I personally found the drive OK, nothing special about it. We chose to drive as the shuttle services were booked on our day of arrival or i would have done that. On the other hand as we drove we were able to do a panorama route tour ourselves. So there is a bright side if you decide to drive!

Kruger safari
Work with Sander to book a kruger park safari. Charges depends on how many people are doing it with you, sander will try his best to book you on one where you have company which will drive the cost down. Its a MUST do, and while booking ask for a driver Johny, we did our safari with Johnny and we highly highly recommend him. The guy has an eye of a hawk he will spot stuff far away or behind yellow grass!

Food
Did I mention Kim is an amazing cook? Just let them know your dietary preferences and you will be taken care. We have some of the best food on our trip there and can come back just for food ;)
