This is such a beautiful old church and we so enjoy coming here for peaceful prayer. It can get crowded at times, so if your looking for quiet time, don't come @ peak times. The gardens are beautiful so take your time to enjoy.

I had heard about the pilgrimages people make to El Santuario, and we saw crosses on the hilltops marking the way. El Santuario is small but very peaceful, and it is possible to scoop up holy dirt to take. There are many pictures posted and requests for prayers for people seeking healing. We didn´t have time to visit the gift shop, but this was worth stopping for briefly.

My wife and I have been here many times and always get something out of the visit. This site can be experienced on many different levels. The ride from Santa Fe goes through some truly spectacular scenery, the architecture is beautiful and calming, the whole place gives you a window into Hispanic Catholic culture, and, for many it is a very spiritual place. We are not Catholic and this has never interfered with our enjoyment. This java holy place and the church should be treated with appropriate respect.

The chapels were lovely and well worth the drive to see. They have plans to expand the complex and add more things to do there. It is a very reverent place.

This place has become very commercialized since the last time I visited years ago. That's just fine, as the reason for coming here will always be the same. Very tranquil place. Truly blessed to be able to go.
