Review of Kiet Hong Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 Mar 2018via mobile
We stayed here for just 1 night as part of a 6 week self guided cycle tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. Well, this was a real surprise! The hotel looked a little unloved and is situated in the middle of a market area very close to the ferry terminal. We arrived by bicycle and they soon had a security parking area opened for us to secure the bikes overnight. Check in is on the first floor above the shops and was one of our most efficient Check in experiences. Our rooms were a real surprise - nice and clean and spacious, with bottled water and green tea supplied with cups and saucers, a small minibar with reasonable pricing. The aircon worked well. There was really good, comprehensive guest information in Vietnamese and English, including a big range of restaurants, ranging from 'expensive, tourist' oriented to budget, local eats. The desk staff were always professional and helpful. The hotel had a car and driver parked at the hotel, ready to take guests anywhere in the city on request. They even gave us a local service mobile phone with a slip of instructions - pretty much 'hand the phone and instructions to your waiter(ess) and they will tell the driver where to pick you up to bring you back to the hotel' so we had taxis free each way. Amazing! This wins the 'over- delivers' award and the 'outstanding value' award from all of the hotels we visited on our stay. Well being our expectations of a budget hotel next to a port! It was a pity we didn't have more time in this town. The rate of redevelopment here was far beyond any other location on our trip.

This must be the best value for money in Rach Gia. Catering for westerners with plenty of information available and a special free taxi that drives you anywhere you want to go.
The rooms are spacious with a western style shower and a thermos of hot water is provided for your green tea. Reception is only too willing to assist with any request.
We arrived with bicycles, uncommon amongst tourists & were immediately shown a lock-up caged area that was secured & looked after by a watchman.
Surrounding the hotel is a market, open from early hours with plenty of interest in their food stalls in addition to a few clothes sellers.
The hotel is located just two minutes walk from the Phu Quoc ferry terminal.
      This hotel is a gem.

Kiet Hong hotel is too good with price.
      - Location: in front of the harbour (where to go Phu Quoc and Nam Du island), just spend 1min from hotel.
      - Room is clean and big, bed is comfortable
      - Staff is friendly and helpful
      - The special thing is this hotel has 7-seat car and you can call driver to take you to downtown (2km from hotel) for FREE.

This hotel is conveniently located across from the ferry to Phu Quoc, but there are many stairs to climb. After a long bus ride the last thing you want to see are two flights of stairs just to get to reception and then more stairs to your room. What were they thinking when they built this? Room was relatively clean, free phone to call free taxi, but very little English. Better to get a guest room along the street from the bus if you are just staying overnight for the morning ferry. Also, there is nothing in the area, so you have to take a taxi to eat etc.

Location is perfect to take the ferry to Phu Quoc. Good value for money: affordable and generally ok, but you get what you pay for. Offers free taxi. No breakfast. Some bugs found on the room (3rd floor): mosquitoes, small insects in bed etc. I would not recommend it because of this.
