The location is great. On the main road of Seminyak not far from Seminyak square. Unfortunately that’s about all I can say that is good about Ananda. The place is falling apart. Rooms are a bungalow with upstairs and down stairs sharing a lounge area. It’s pot luck who you share it with and they look like they haven’t had any maintenance since the 70’s. The pool is ok in size but no shade or umbrellas at all and the bar isn’t manned so you can’t get a drink without walking to the restaurant which is kind of annoying. This quaint hotel might have once been nice but it’s badly run down. Housekeeping knock on the door early for cleaning when they can clearly see your in the room as the room has to be locked by padlock outside. Then while you’re half asleep they want to know when you will be going out so they can clean. Surely they could wait to see when you’re out like most other places in Bali. I’m too buggered in the mornings to wake up and think about when I’m going to wake up and think.

OK, so the rooms are older Bali style, but cleaner than some of the more expensive hotels we have stayed in Seminyak. Lovely breakfasts and really delightful, helpful staff. There is a safe in the room and really good value in the heart of eat street if you don't mind the intermittent wifi.

This would probably be the 10th stay at Ananda Resort and the last stay!!
My friend had money taken from her bag in the room and later when she got back to Australia discovered that a bag of jewellery was also missing. I have tried numerous times to email them and ask them to investigate and to date have not had a reply.
The safe in the room was not bolted down so even if we did use it the thieves could have walked out with everything anyway.

Room tip: Don't leave valuables in your room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two stars is being generous and given for the grounds staff as the gardens are the best part of this place.
I stayed here 3 nights on my own after a beautiful holiday with my daughter (10 nights at Vila Lumbung, Seminyak). Unfortunately I had to move hotel due to availability at the first resort.

Ananda resort was probably a lovely hotel in its prime, but that would have to be a very long time ago as it so run down and in various stages of disrepair.

My 'superior bungalow' was advertised as having seating area, dining area, kitchen, coffee machine, etc... Which sounded amazing at IDR 174K - more than my previous hotel.

When I was taken to my room, it appeared that the seating, dining and kitchen area was to be shared with other people in the villa and what they called coffee machine was merely a kettle! And what they called a kitchen was just a sink and fridge, no actual cooking facility. That's not where my dismay ended though.

There were no water bottles provided, the TV was tiny with very few channels actually working, the WiFi so unreliable I switched to mobile data instead.

The bathroom had a rusty bath with rotting windowsill, a shower with very little water pressure which took many minutes to warm up and the basin was just out of the bedroom - if you can call it that as there was no divisional door. You had a window covered by a bamboo blind so when showering in the evening, people would be able to see you.

The bed was comfortable and I decided not to complain, instead spending as little time as possible in the room.
Even though they spray weekly against mosquitoes and other insects, by night time my room was inundated with mozzie so I decided to close the mosquito net Two stars is being generous and given for the grounds staff as the gardens are the best part of this place.

Even though they spray weekly against mosquitoes and other insects, by night time my room was inundated with mozzie so I decided to close the mosquito net. Big mistake! It was full of holes and so dusty I coughed all night.

No way I was not sleeping for the other two nights, so went to reception to complain and only then realised that the door lock was a padlock. Anyone could enter the villa and push my door open.

Reception staff were very nice and understanding, upgrading me to a deluxe room which was massive. Yet... The large bed turned out to be two very saggy single mattresses pushed together. The mosquito net was clean, but still had holes. Doors on cupboards were barely holding on. The grout on the huge shower floor was worn off so the tiles were loose, the floor sunken and when showering the head would not stay facing down.
The airconditioning was facing the bed rather than the room and struggled to cool the room.

Although provided with coffee, there was no thee or sugar. And again, there was a communal seating area and padlocked doors.

Breakfast service was slow and no vegan options available.

The pool was beautiful but the bar and surrounding buildings not in use and so rundown they appeared unsafe to me. The pool lounges were old and some broken, towels were put in the morning but not replenished.

A very long review that could have been written in two words: don't bother!!

The best thing about this resort is it’s location! Right on eat street, amongst so many great places to eat and shop.
Rooms are $55 a night, the place is old and quite run down but rooms were clean. Air conditioner worked well, our bed was the most comfy I’ve slept in 10 trips to Bali. This is a no frills hotel, the swim up bar is not manned, very few lounges around the pool but the pool was beautiful and clean.
Would I stay here again, probably not. After being in a beautiful villa the week prior, it was hard to compare. If your trip is all about location to shopping and restaurants in Seminyak, go for it!
