Aan de Oever Guesthouse
21 Faure Street, Swellendam, South Africa
Over the years of travel along the Garden Route between
Cape Town and Port Elizabeth we have frequently overnighted
or stayed for 2 or 3 days in Swellendam. Must have used 6
or 7 establishments for B&B, while dining at local restaurants
each time. In recent times, however, have been guests of
Aan de Oever and concluded that it would be difficult to find
a better choice for our needs. Judging by the growth and
quality of their facilities it would indicate that we are not the
only ones who are becoming regular and satisfied visitors to
this family-run guesthouse.
It’s located in a quiet street (just over the Main Street bridge), set
in a large, beautiful garden ranging along the river bank, with a
swimming pool. Secure, off-street parking is available. The staff
is very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts leave nothing more
to be desired.
Depending on one’s age and fitness some restaurants could be
considered to be within walking distance. We drive! Aan de Oever
will recommend (and book if needed) suitable establishments. However,
there is one particular place that is a ‘rip-off’ when it comes to wine pricing,
especially by SA standards. Aan de Oever knows who they are, so ask!
We hate to see foreign visitors being taken for a ride even though they
may be better able to afford the asked prices.More
