Because Jill is a coeliac and cannot eat any foods containing oats barley rye or wheat, Pizza does not figure highly in our Restaurant requirements; but a friend eats there regularly and checked that they have a gluten free alternative.
This is not a Fine Dining restaurant and the tables, chairs, crockery and cutlery are all plain and simple with paper serviettes being the order of the day. The staff were very friendly and readily greeted our friends, and light banter started almost immediately with our waitron.
The drinks came up almost immediately they were asked for: Miriam and Pine shared a couple of Windhoek draughts (R22ea), Jill had a Rock Shandy (R30) which is lemonaide with Angostura bitters, and I had a Wild Beast Ale, which was sweetish and a good beer (R45 for 440ml)
Jill had an Small (called medium) Eastern Delight Pizza ( R75) plus R25 for the Gluten free base. It consisted of chunks of Tandoori chicken with feta cheese. The coverings were generous for all our Pizzas, and the bases, including the Gluten Free, were thin and crispy. Pine and Miriam shared a small Margherita (R52) with extra anchovy (R19) and a Greek salad (R59) which was not skimpy with either feta or olives. I had a small Mexicana which was covered in cheese and chillied mince.
I cannot compare Pomodoro's Pizza with the big boys, like Romans or Panerotti's but I do know that there were very few crumbs left on anybody's plate!! We all felt pleasantly full as we left.
Without service it came to R444, and whilst we will not be regulars we certainly we will be having Pomodoro Pizzas again.
